[Closed] Breakfast with a new friend
Who: Leonardo da Vinci (
true_renaissance_man) and Megurine Luka (
circulates)
What: Breakfast in the Freyr House
When: The morning after this post - D203
Where: Freyr House
Rating: G
Late.
Despite trying to get up early he some how still ended up being late. It probably had something to do with his having been so wiped out the night before... or with being so disorganized that he couldn’t find any of the things he had been looking for this morning. Either way he tried to make up time by hurrying down the stairs to the dinning hall as quickly as was reasonable.
“Scusate Luka,” He hastily bowed as he entered the room, hoping the apology would be enough compensation for his tardy arrival. “I did not mean to keep you waiting.”
[(Excuse me.)]

She was already in the dining hall, a pot of tea already made and some scones and biscuits that she found while rummaging through the kitchen that morning. A notebook was out in front of her on the table, a pencil in her hand. While waiting for her guest, Luka had been working song lyrics -- ideas were in her head and she had to let them out somehow.
There was the sound of footsteps entering, and as she looked up she was greeted with the face of her fellow housemate. "It's not a problem at all," Luka reassured him, gesturing her hand towards the seat beside her. "I didn't mind waiting. Sit down, I've already made some tea and found some food in the kitchen."
no subject
But since she was not upset in the slightest there was no need for further apologies for being late. He entered the room with a relieved smile and glanced over her shoulder at what she was working on. A bad habit maybe, but having had several apprentices at this point it had become almost second nature to check up on some one's work.
"You are writing a song?" After giving what she had written down so far a second look he moved away to grab one of those tasty looking scone she had found and set out on the table earlier. "What you have so far looks very nice. It should turn into a beautiful song."
no subject
"I'm glad you think so," she quietly set the cup down and looked at him with a kind smile, "It's not much right now, though. There's many ideas I have and many things I want to convey through this song, I'm not sure how I'll be able to do it."
no subject
"Did you make this? Grazie."
He asked his question and answered it with a polite thank you before she really had time to answer. Luka had made it down here first, unless one of the other house mates had made the tea, it had very likely been her doing.
With tea and scone in hand he finally moved to a chair near the girl and sat down. Due to what some one had said to him the day before he put a bit of sugar into the tea. It was supposed to help recover the blood sugar levels? He didn't entirely understand that but it did make tea less bitter.
"I think the important thing about music is that it comes from the heart, si? As long as the music says what the heart can not then it would be a good song."

Unlike the other man, Luka liked her tea with some milk or cream; she liked sweets, and she never minded if anyone serving her tea put sugar in it, but she preferred her tea to be a more mild flavor.
She nodded in agreement to his statement. "That's true, and I agree wholeheartedly. Music has a way of saying the words that we wish to say and cannot bring ourselves to say." The singing robot knew this all too well.
"Did you sleep well? I hope you're feeling better this morning."

If he hadn't been brought to Asgard then sometime in his future he would have fooled around with the idea of building a robot, though for him it was more of a human-based clockwork toy than anything else. He would have been absolutely thrilled if he had any idea the young girl he was speaking to was actually a robot. But, it was probabally better for her that he was entirely clueless about it. If he had known there would have been endless questions about it all.
For now, all he knew was that he was having a very lovely breakfast with a sweet young lady.
"Si, grazie, and I do feel much better after having the rest. I might try drawing more a bit later," He held up a steadying hand before she could protest if it was in her mind to do so, "Just drawing the images should be safe enough. I will not attempt to bring any more to life, at least not right away."
no subject
"I'll keep your word to it," she simply said. She would worry again if he ended up passing out another time due to his lack of control with the Drawing Life power.
"What exactly were you trying to do last night? You must have been trying to bring something taxing to life if it caused you to faint."
no subject
"I was just trying to do too much at once I think. A friend asked for a sword back when I was first learning how to use this power and when I attempted it to make it... the sword did not come out well."
The poor thing had come off the page about the size of a pencil and in no way resembling a katana. There was research put into the second attempt since he had never before seen a sword like that in Italy.
"Then I was told there were these emergency kits that needed to be refilled after the war they had experienced. I made a lot of items for those when I probabally should have stopped with only a few."
He sat back in his chair for a moment as he enjoyed a sip of that warm tea she had made.
"But your power is not drawing life?" It was only a guess since he hadn't seen her drawing anything.
no subject
She shook her head in response to his question. "Mm, it isn't. I have Bardic Influence," Luka grinned, "Our powers are quite fitting, aren't they?"
no subject
And it was nice that they had all been so concerned even if he hadn't wished to cause so many people distress. He had of course been trying to help not make people worry about something new.
"I know it was sciocco now, but at the time I never thought of the magic as having limits."
He was so new to the very idea of magic being real that even the 'common sense' rules most people familiar with magic would know were brand new and entirely unfamiliar to him. He had to find the limits of the power through trial and error. So while he had been able to make drawings come to life and in the correct size to be useful, he called the action sciocco, or foolish, now as he had not realized that one very fundamental property that had resulted in his minor fainting spell.
"I should have realized that everything has its limits."
Live and learn. He really would try to be more careful with his power from now on.
It was fun to be able to turn his attention to Luka and her power. He was always curious about the powers everyone had been granted. And she was right, it was remarkable just how perfectly their powers had been assigned.
"You are the first person I have met with Bardic Influence! You will have to tell me what that power is like, have you tried it out yet?"
no subject
Luka nodded to herself, as if agreeing with her own statement. Trial and error was a tough way to learn something, but she couldn't really see how there was any other way to learn something like using one's powers.
Her hand reached out to take another sip of her tea, and she spoke as she gently placed it back down. "Is the power not common here?" That was odd; she would have imagined more people having this ability, but now that Leonardo had said that to her, she wondered if more people had his drawing life ability than hers.
"I've only tried it once. It's a bit hard for me to really comprehend the mechanics of it, though."
no subject
This is just going on what he had seen and heard of people's powers. Some time if he felt up to it he would have to make a study of powers to find out more about them. Though some had already started that it never hurt to take a fresh looks at things.
"When you tried your power was it difficult to use or was there something else about the magic you did not understand? I found that once you believed the magic would work things became much simpler."
