EVENT LOG: VANAHEIM TRIP SPILL OVER

Who: Everyone going to Vanaheim!
What: We're Taking the Hobbits to Vanaheim spill over from the first half of the log
When: Days 324-334 ( September 10-30 )
Where: On the way to, the way back from, and in the city of Vanaheim.
Rating: PG-13. Anything that might go higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

This is simply a continuation of the Vanaheim event log to help facilitate traffic and ease loading speed of the page. The set up is exactly the same, so feel free to use this log for starting new threads or even transposing the last half of your current threads here if you'd like to lessen load time. You are still more than welcome and encouraged to continue threading on the first log if you want to!

We will set up the same top-level headers, but you can always create your own headers as you please. Please clearly label the Day of your thread along with [OPEN/CLOSED] in the comment title, especially if you are splicing a thread over here for its conclusion. Let us know if there are any questions or concerns!

ORIGINAL LOG for the first half of this event and general information!

[ Travel on the floating train lasts a full IC day each way. This particular train car is large, and the crimson seats are plush and comfortable. The ride itself is deceptively smooth, as the landscape past the windows whizzes by at an incredible speed. Get settled! It's going to be a long ride, but at least there's room to stretch your legs, walk around, and visit. ]

Her dreams were unpleasant, a blend of home and here, old fears and new ones that circled each other and played war. Cold sweat trickled down her spine as she shifted uncomfortably, tossing in the grip of what she knew was a dream even as she was dreaming it.

Everything was a worry, no matter how innocuous, and her nightmare dogged her. Once upon a time, Eth would have woken her, but that was not now. It would have been logged and filed and caused her no grief.

Now? Now it was a hurricane and she let out a soft protest.

[ All she had been doing was wondering around when she had heard noises coming from one of the isle. And because she's as curious as cat, she needs to see what was happening. Tilting her head when the woman comes into view, Minako slips into the seat across from her.

Thinking it was best to wake her up, because from where she was sitting, it didn't look like she was having any good dreams. Leaning over, Minako gently poked the young woman.

If she got no response, she'd move closer and start to shake her shoulder, hoping that she'd wake up. And if that didn't work then, well, she's pretty much at a loss at what to do. Yelling might work, but that would cause problems for those around them. ]

[She woke instantly, snapping the dream off just as the tea kettle in it started to shriek. Disoriented, she works to clear her vision, and to try and put the nightmare behind. her. It was only a dream and it wasn't real and she was sure it was just the anxiety of being out of the city. Surely Six was fine. They weren't helpless folk.

She glances up to see who had woken her and rubs at her eyes. Ril ignores the fact that they'd come away wet and let out a carefully controlled breath. When she finally speaks, her voice is still a bit off.]

Oh. Is everything alright, then?

You're awake!

[ Duh, it wasn't like she was dead Minako. It was going to come off as strange for her to be so excited about such a minor thing, but she didn't let it bother her. This meant she wouldn't be dealing with whatever nightmare she was having. Nodding her head, she smiles. ] Yeah. I was just worried about you and decided to wake you up ... I hope that wasn't rude of me.

Mm. No, I'm-- I'm glad you did. [She shook her head and moved to prop herself up.] It wasn't a particularly relaxing dream. [Ril frowns lightly.] They never are.

Um... do you want to talk about it? I know some people like to just to get it out, but I understand if you don't want to, we're strangers after all.

[ she saw no harm in at least offering. ]

Thank you for the offer, but, that's probably not the best of ideas right now. It's-- It would be very much like dreaming it again. [She offered an apologetic smile and for a second closed her eyes.]

Hnn. I could use tea about now. [Just not the whistling kettle.]

That's fine. You have a good point because it'll just remind you what happen. It's best to forget about it, right? [ now she feels a little silly.

hearing her request, Minako gets up and looks around. ] Hm... there might be a cart near by with some. I can look for it if you want.

I'll come with. [It's good to walk it off, good to move, and good to follow company when they're leaving, too. Maybe it was the being alone in her seat that brough the nightmare on. Or just the combination of being far from Thor district and the house that was now her home.]

I can use the stretch. Never know what you'll find, yeah?

All right! It'll be like an adventure. [ which is something that this young lady loves, maybe even too much for her own good. there was bonus points if she was with another person. ]

Heh, that's true. Now... I wonder where it'd be.

I don't mind a good adventure. So, if I were a cart [Ril says this thoughtfully.] I'd be at the end of the corridor for storage or in the middle for access, I would.

Great! And... I guess we should just keep walking down then. We'll see it sooner or later if that's the case. [ and then they can get tea! ]

That is generally how it goes, yes. [Ril rose and started down the down the corridor slowly.] There's nothing a good spot of tea won't make better, that's for sure.

It does sound relaxing to have. I know I used to drink it sometimes before sleeping after dealing with a long day. [ and a long Dark Hour too. ]

It's good for stress relief in addition to being something hot. [And the thing down the corridor toward the middle isn't a cart. Ril keeps moving.] Sometimes, I think it's the heat that does it for me.

It's the perfect drink to have one a winters night, no doubt. [ she lifts her head up a little and hums. ] That makes sense because being something warm just... hm... how do I put it. It's just really soothing, like wrapping yourself up in a blanket when it's cold.

Quite, I do think it's the best thing. [She paused in front of a partially closed door.] Ah, here we are.

Perfect! Now... hm... I wonder what type of teas they'll have, and which one would taste the best. [ because Minako doesn't drink tea that often to have any special type of flavor. ]

I once had a tea that had a sort of spicy, peppery taste. Black tea it was. Terribly good, the kind you set a while for and enjoyed. [Perfect. The water was still hot and there were little mugs.] But valan fruit would be nice, it's sweetly soothing.

That sounds really interesting. There's so many types of tea out there that it can get hard to keep track of it. [ there's a faint chuckle. ] Really? I might have to try it myself then.

Perhaps these gods will give us the proper fruit for such things. It an art, blending a tea. Or finding the ingredient, for that matter.

Really? You sure know a lot about tea, maybe I can learn a thing or two about it. [ She says that, but she's already learnt quite a bit by now. ]

Mm. Near all of my species learn to make a proper tea from leaves to adding ingredients such as fruit and spice. I enjoyed making different blends when I was younger and it was my turn to mind the spice room at pre-Flight. That sort of work kept our fingers nimble for delicate work.

[She nudges the hot pot and pours a black tea into one of two mugs. Refreshing, some orange notes to the scent. Very promising, but mostly, hot.]

Wait, you're not human? [ Let's hope she doesn't sound too rude by saying that. Ril looks human to her, but she could be wrong. ] That sounds really neat. I think schools in Japan they offer tea classes... or something like that.

[ It already smells really good...! ]

[Ril shakes her head and gives her companion a good look at her eyes which are ringed with silver that seems to glow ever so slightly as light hits it.] Antedan. I have markings down my back that say I am so, as well. They are rust, blues, and silver soft-scales. My race has avain DNA at its root, though we are similar looking to yourself.

[She offers the tea, her fingers delicately holding the bottom of the cup.]

Tea is an important thing, along with kafe to us Antedans. To share drink with others, is to welcome them and wish them a good-day.

Antedan... [ She repeats it to herself a few more times. She really was talking to someone that wasn't human. It wouldn't be the first time because of a certain someone, but it was still taking a bit to process in her mind. .]

That's really cool, and the markings sound pretty too!

[ For a moment she just stares, but a smile appears on her face and Minako carefully takes the cup, being wary of how hot it might be. ] I'm not sure what kafe is, but I'm honored!

[ Characters will arrive in Vanaheim not long after sundown. They will first be ushered to their rooms in the palace and given a few moments to freshen up and rest, before being called to the castle courtyard. It is temperate and comfortable outside, and twinkling fairy lights hang in the air. A long banquet table stands in the center of the courtyard, heaped with roasted foods and glazed desserts. Tall carafes of white wine, ever-full, are on each table.

Six of the gods will be dining beyond the banquet table. Freyr and Freya will mostly be engaged in conversation with their parents, the Queen and King of Vanaheim -- Njord and Skadi. Mimir and Honir, on the other hand, can be seen often glancing over the small crowd of travelers from Asgard. Otherwise, the food is good, and the servants are friendly. ]

[ There will be similar banquets each night in the courtyard in honor of Freyr and Freya, but these are the nights that they will encourage the Travelers that came with them to perform and show off their talents and skills in some capacity. Be it singing, dancing, acrobatics, poetry reading, or fisticuffs, they will have cleared a large area in the center of the courtyard and given travelers whatever it is they need. Signups for this are not necessary, and any character on this trip will be allowed and encouraged to participate. ]

[ The rooms the Travelers are assigned to are comfortable and large, outfitted with enormous canopied beds and with huge windows with stone seats built in. While they are supervised little, there are some doors flanked with polite but taciturn guards that they will not be allowed into. Otherwise, they are welcome to wander and visit each other as they would like. ]

[ The marketplace is loud and bustling, full of vendors and booths pushing merchandise on travelers and natives alike. Everything from the mundane to the incredible can be found here, and the wares range from practical clothing to odd knick-knacks and jewerly. The one exception is technology: the city considers itself sophisticated and intelligent and beyond the need of complicated technology. ]

[ Vanaheim takes great pride in art, music, theater, and general knowledge of all sorts. These locations are all huge but beautiful, and there will be nightly performances in honor of Freyr and Freya's visit home. ]

[ There are several large parks and zoos in the city, as well as an enormous flower garden and butterfly habitat. The landscaping is incredible and elegant. There are carriage rides around the largest park, and a small set of piers and docks stretching out over the lake. ]

[ What it says on the tin. Just like Asgard, Vanaheim is filled with shops and stores of all kinds. Again, the one exception is technology: the city does not have or sell much in the way of it. ]

[ Is your character going to break into a native's home for some reason? Perhaps have an altercation at the city gate? This is just the "etc" section, for places not covered in the above! ]
