DAY 578 ( MAR. 1/2 ): The Grey Sickness is officially declared gone and Asgard begins tearing down its walls.
DAY 580 ( MAR. 5/6 ): Honir permanently opens the portal for travel between canon worlds and Yggdrasil. Henceforth, any character can come and go as they please.
DAY 583 ( MAR. 11/12 ): Frigg gives any willing Travellers the ability to redesign the earth through expressions of emotion or art. Asgard has a huge tree-planting party with blessed water to encourage faster growth.
DAY 585 ( MAR. 15/16 ): Small councils are formed with Travellers at the head of them to begin rebuilding the new kingdoms around the world.
DAY 590 ( MAR. 25/26 ): New Giants are born neutral of any bias for people to bring into the world with the Lokis as their Kings.
DAY 600 AND ONWARD: Everything is awesome.

[He hurried to catch up with her, looking her up and down as he folded his hands behind his head, giving her an eye up and down. He definitely wasn't objecting to this...]

...it's a good look.

[She paused for him to catch up. Her mouth quirked up at the corners. She almost smiled at him like she used to, before catching herself and shaking her head.]

You are so weird.

Never claimed I wasn't.

[He looked stupidly proud of that.]

But you liked that about me once.

Once.

[She almost smiled again and sharply looked away. Not at anything in particular, really, just not at him.]

But then, I'm famous for having bad taste in men.

[She crossed her arms, closing in on herself, and set off toward the coffee shop again at a faster pace.]

[He never said he was a decent guy either, but Adachi decided not to push it. Instead, he stayed quiet, going with her all the way to the coffee shop and ordering himself his usual. He waited until they were sitting, sipping on his drink, before he finally spoke up again.]

...I'm staying here. I've had... too much happen here for me not to.

[She lazily dragged a spoon in circles through her coffee, barely glancing up at what he seemed to think was an important announcement. She rolled her shoulder in a half shrug.]

Okay? I mean, I figured so, going around recruiting with flyers like you were.

If that's what you wanted to tell me, you could have said it back there.

Well, it's more than just that.

[He glanced down at his coffee, mulling it over in his head a moment. Geeze, it was easier to spit this out before, when he thought for sure he was going to end up dead and no one would ever think of him again. Now that he had a chance at a decent life...]

I'm an ass. I'm a murderer and I don't give a shit about it. But... these idiot gods trusted me enough to let me in the City Guard, to let me do what I wanted and put up with me when I complained, and then the Tree let me talk to it, and they let me go with the guys offering peace before that last battle and...

[He trailed off with a huff, making a face.]

...point is, I guess if they're stupid enough to trust me, I guess there's more to me than even I know about.

[Harley frowned down at the table. Did he expect ... What? Some sort of validation? Did he want her to be proud of him? She couldn't figure why he needed her around to hear any of this. He could have rambled on at any old stranger.]

[Stupid Harley. Stupid, stupid Harley, for thinking - hoping - that maybe, maybe he'd ... She didn't even know. Apologize? Pfft, not likely.]

Okay, well, that's- Good for you. Great job. Sounds like everything's coming up roses.

But I don't-- I mean, it doesn't really have anything to do with me, does it? So...

[She shrugged.]

So I guess I'll take this to go. Thanks for the coffee.

[Adachi glanced up at her, almost like he was silently asking her to stay, but he couldn't actually say it.]

I mean... I... really like the second chance this place is giving me. So... if this entire world can give me that...

[Can you? Please? But of course, he couldn't actually manage to voice that.]

[She leaned back heavily in the chair, looking frustrated and miserable with her painted face all scrunched up. But at least she wasn't leaving. Yet.]

Tohru...

[She sighed.]

So what if I- if I did ... I mean, what do you even want? Someone to keep your bed warm until the next pretty blonde catches your eye?

[Adachi stared for a moment, before a lopsided grin came to his face.]

I dunno what I want... but I gotta admit, you calling me by my first name for the first time is something I didn't think I'd ever want.

[She crossed her arms and looked away, staring intently at the door for a long quiet moment, before she looked him straight on for the first time since they'd sat down. Even under the mask and greasepaint, she looked tired.]

I liked you, you know. I really, really did. And you ... You just like being liked. It could be anybody.

That's true.

[There was no point in lying about it, really.]

I'm not used to it... it's hard for me to recognize it when it's being directed at me. Hell, ask Souji-kun; he'll vouch for me being a stubborn ass.

[He paused a moment.]

...but sticking around with someone that can help keep me grounded would be great. If she wants to.

[Her laugh was sharp and on the edge of bitterness.]

You haven't even given me a reason to give you another chance, Adachi. You don't want me. You're just lonely.

[Adachi bit his lip, before finally glancing up at her as he reached out for her, letting his fingers brush along her hand.]

...yeah, maybe. But I'd still like you to be the one to stay. Please?

[Her fingers twitched when he touched her, and she had to force herself to leave her hand still, neither retreating or returning the gesture.]

Why. Why me, why stay? You're asking me for a hell of a lot and you aren't even giving me anything.

'Cause... well, yeah, we had some wild times in private, but... I like you. And... I want to make things up to you.

[He was near pleading, and he didn't want to go that far. Couldn't she see the apology in his face?]

[She wanted to hear him say it. She needed it.]

... If ... If you want me to stay, if it really does have to be me, and I'm not saying I believe that's true...

Well, then you have to make me want that too.

Uh...

[He paused at that, not sure... what to do to make her want to. Other than puppy dog eyes, because he was good with those.]

...what can I do?

[She was clearly disappointed with that answer. Was he even trying? Had he always been so ... inept? Jesus, how had such a loser played her so badly.]

Some stuff went down back home and I need to lie low for a while, stay out of the way until it blows over. So. Yeah. I am staying, at least for a little bit.

[His lips twitched up into a smile.]

Well... I can let you crash at my place?

Hell. No. You're going to have to do better than that to get me back in your bed, asshole.

[Adachi held his hands up.]

I didn't mean it like that! I'll take the couch.

No. Still no. Very, very no. I'll find something else thanks.

[She drummed her fingers on the table, scrutinizing everything about him.]

But! But. If you really mean it, if you want me to stick around, well. ... Call me up sometime, ask me out again, and we'll see.

[Adachi paused a moment, before he smiled brightly.]
