Entry tags:
[open] The Roadhouse's doors are always open...
Who: Jo Harvelle & you!
What: Some conversations are best had over a beer.
When: various times after dream event.
Where: The Roadhouse
Rating: PG-13?
[ The Roadhouse is most always open - it gives people somewhere to go, and Jo something to do. Some people come to find Jo, other's just come to find peace. Either way, it's good alcohol and an informal atmosphere to forget your troubles for a while...
Just watch out for Ash on the pool table. ]
ooc: had a few plans for Jo and some of her CR, figured I'd throw up an open log for anyone looking for a reason to head to a bar and chat it up with the local, non-native bartender! Feel free to leave OTA tags, or have your characters interact with their own CR with the Roadhouse used as a meeting place of sorts. Totally up to you.

Yeah, kind of. My mom owned a bar, so I worked there for a while. [ When she's done putting up the bottles, she moves back over to stand in front of Morgana at the bar. ] It was easy enough to find jobs at bars when I was on the road too.

[ she gives her a half smile, taking another sip. It's easier to get it down this time. Perhaps because she is now expecting the burning. ]
It is rare to find women traveling together in mine. The roads are not safe.

[ Jo wasn't there, so she doesn't feel any particular connection to the fire. But it had killed Ash. But then she gives Morgana a little smile, and a shrug. ]
Roads aren't particular safe back home, either. But my mom's pretty intimidating when she wants to. And with the right weapon, no one's gonna bother you.
no subject
And what is the right weapon?

[ Ah, give her a moment...Jo's just going to search around the bar for a moment before reaching under it and pulling one out. Setting it down on the bar in front of her. ]
No matter how strong or big the guys might be, you put a bullet in them and they're done. Personally, I prefer knives. [ And now she's going to reach into the back of her jeans, pull out the knife she keeps there and puts it down on the bar next to the gun. ] Either way, it doesn't matter so much if you're a woman or a man - everyone dies.

[ here magic was stripped from her, taken, and as much as Morgana was furious about it, she did not remain helpless. ]
However before I knew of my magic, I was never quite keen on trusting knights and princes to protect me.
[ and she takes out a dagger from her own cloak, places it next to Jo's. ]

Sounds useful. [ The idea of being able to take someone down without even saying a spell? Yeah, definitely useful. But then Morgana's pulling out a dagger and Jo's attention is diverted. ]
I never liked relying on anyone else to protect me, either. Can I? [ She's motioning to the dagger, asking Morgana if it's alright if she picks it up. ]
no subject
It was. The Deities took it all when I came here, and while the shadows are -- useful in their way, they're nothing compared to what I could do. I do not often wield that power.

She gives her a nod, before picking up the dagger and examining it up close. It's much more ornate than her knife, but extremely well made. Impressive. She's distracted for a moment before she remembers that Morgana had spoken, and she gives her a look. ]
At least your powers work well enough on their own. [ It's still something of a bitter topic for Jo, that her power only works for others. Drains her of energy for the good of powering up everyone else. ]

[ Morgana changed, her life changed and she left only to return again. ]
Everything changed and I changed a house. My bracelet changed and so did my powers. Heimdall to Hel.

[ Jo glances up from where she's been staring at the blade, looking over to the other woman before returning to the dagger. ]
no subject
[ a curt nod. ]
To the halls of house Hel.
no subject
[ Because even Jo knew it wasn't her housemates that pushed her away. ]
You didn't think you belonged there.
no subject
[ she takes another sip from her drink. ]
I am still unsure. It - a lot has changed. At Camelot.
no subject
But do you belong in Hel?
no subject
[ that much she knows, that much she has realized. She cannot fill herself with darkness, she cannot be the woman from her memories and she cannot be the woman she was before the memories. She is neither and she is both. ]
In truth, I do not know if there is a place I belong in.
no subject
There is. [ a pause, when she looks up at morgana. shrugs a little. ] You just haven't figured it out yet.
no subject
[ she is not mocking, in fact she is truly curious. She takes another sip, leans on her elbow. ]
How did you do it, having spent so much time on the road as you have?
no subject
[ Jo pauses for a moment, thinking back to those months when she was really on her own, what it felt like. It seems as though she's done talking for a minute there before she shifts her feet, continues. ] Being on the road doesn't change much. It's more about the people.
no subject
And perhaps it is about that infamous freedom as well?
no subject
[ and jo's smiling back a little, gives a shrug. ]
You can't appreciate one without the other, I'd say.
no subject
[ another sip and she places the glass down ]
we have so little of it.
no subject
[ and it's what bothers her the most - for living on the road for so long, just going where she wanted, when she wanted, being cooped up in a city like this makes her skin crawl. but- ]
Don't really have a choice, though.

Heimdall. Energy lending. [ because that's all she cares about when it comes to houses. which power you have, how powerful you can become. ] Why?
