[open] The Roadhouse's doors are always open...
Who: Jo Harvelle & you!
What: Some conversations are best had over a beer.
When: various times after dream event.
Where: The Roadhouse
Rating: PG-13?
[ The Roadhouse is most always open - it gives people somewhere to go, and Jo something to do. Some people come to find Jo, other's just come to find peace. Either way, it's good alcohol and an informal atmosphere to forget your troubles for a while...
Just watch out for Ash on the pool table. ]
ooc: had a few plans for Jo and some of her CR, figured I'd throw up an open log for anyone looking for a reason to head to a bar and chat it up with the local, non-native bartender! Feel free to leave OTA tags, or have your characters interact with their own CR with the Roadhouse used as a meeting place of sorts. Totally up to you.

[ Oh honey, you are about to be proven so very wrong. ]

[There's the smallest hint of a grin as he says it, which means he's teasing, just a little. But there's an undercurrent of truth to it as well. Not too many women he knew back in the 18th century were crack shots, and even during his travels men tended to be the ones with the guns.]
Mind, ye weren't bad in that dream-thing, but for all I know you're the only one that ever plays that game. Not so hard to have the high scores if ye are.

[ she picks up on the grin, but since he started this, she doesn't plan on stepping down. not until she's had the chance to prove him very, very wrong. and maybe show off a little. ]
How about this. [ jo pushes off the machine where she's been leaning on it, moving around to stand next to him and press the override on the game, so that it doesn't need the coins. then she turns to look at him, holding a hand out to the machine. ] You give it a try. And then I'll show you just what it takes to get to those high scores.

[He watches her with interest, however, as she pushes some wee button or other before gesturing at the game. Well, if she's going to make it that easy for him to beat her, he's not about to turn down that particular offer.]
All right, then, I'll give it a go.
[Deep down he knows there's going to be a small learning curve because of his not actually having played this game before, but he's familiar enough with rifles to be comfortable with them. So he steps forward, picks up the game, and starts. It's not too hard to figure out he needs to aim and shoot to hit the tiny targets that are popping up, and it doesn't take him long to get settled. Once he does, he's not bad at all, enough of his experience with firearms able to get him through the first few rounds of the game with relative ease.]

[ but then she's leaning away, giving him room to check the game out before he gets started. she watches him get used to the game, and then ends up watching the screen more so than him as he hits away at the targets. she's fairly impressed, mostly because she's caught many a hunter in lies this way - have them talk a big game, and then when given the chance they just flop.
jamie doesn't flop, necessarily. he gets pretty fair pretty easy and jo just watches, standing off to his side with her arms crossed over her chest. at least until he finishes, to which she just gives him a nod. ]
Not bad for your first time, I have to say.

[He's pleased by figuring out the game, and pleased by getting that good of a score at it - and her 'not bad' is more than enough to cause his chest to puff out a little with pride, a crooked smile appearing on his face as well. He steps back, gesturing to the machine, confident that he's done well enought to beat her, in this case.]
All right, then. Let's see how well ye can actually do.
no subject
so yes, comfortable with the game? definitely. at her best? maybe not. but she flies through the levels like she's asleep and although she may be a few thousand points shy of her lowest high score, she's made her point. so she just sits back as the game heads into the end screen, looking quite pleased with herself as she does so. ]

The further along she gets in the game, the more his expression changes - his smile fading first, then his brow knitting and finally something a bit dismayed crossing his face as she finishes off with a score that is clearly much better than the one he managed to get.]
Oh.
[His pride is feeling a bit stung, and he tries not to let too much of it show, masking it under a bit of bravado that probably isn't fooling anyone.]
Aye, well. I might not have gotten the hang of that machine just yet.

You can come in and practice if you'd like. It's here and open whenever. [ but then she just kind of laughs, setting her hand on his shoulder. maybe she was a bit harsh about it all, but again, she had to prove a point. and that's the kind of point that tends to stick. ] Here, how about I get you a drink. On the house.
no subject
Aye, that's best idea I've heard all day.
[Well, maybe not all day, but it sure sounds like a good one now.]
Don't suppose I could talk ye into letting me know how ye got so good at that, though?
no subject
[ and with that, she turns back to the bar, expecting him to follow. ]
Let's just say back home I had a lot of time and not a lot to do. Except that.
