[They knew that he drank on shift. They knew that he mouthed off customers and occasionally even told them to get right the fuck out of the bar. But they were strapped for employees, so they held onto him.

Until he got extremely loaded on this particular evening and started - or attempted to start - a fistfight with his boss. The large, burly man had just enough colour to be angry, so he joined in gladly, and it got to the point where Pyro had to pull his knife. One long cut up his boss's bicep later, Pyro's ass was out on the street.

You can find him:

A) Standing in the open doorway of the small bar, hollering abuse at the owner/bouncer who just threw him out, his arms and face badly bruised and a slight list to his walk;

or

B) Wandering through Baldr with a fresh bottle in his hand, a steady stream of muttered annoyance trailing behind him. There may be shadows of bruising left, but they'll be hard to make out in the darkness.

It's hard being Pyro, damnit. So much manpain, so little time.]

[He makes a wobbly turn, a bit of alcohol sloshing out of his bottle, and narrows his eyes to focus on her; the hair makes it obvious who it is, of course, but he's a little slow tonight.]

Euri. [Only the very last of his bruises and scrapes are visible, most prominently under his eyes, where he appears to have gotten two matching shiners. He's also giving off a definite air of ticking time bomb.] On another date?

[He leers at that, even though he gave up the whole 'Euri sleeps with EVERY BOY' thing quite awhile ago.]

[Her first reaction is, of course, concern. She has to squint but she notices his eyes, and that bottle, and she's putting two and two together. Yeesh, does he need to be babysat when he goes out drinking?

That thought is put on hold at this question, though. And for a split second she isn't sure what he means.]

Huh?

[But a quick glance downwards and it clicks. She frowns.]

I was at work. What were you doing?

Work, huh? Must be a pretty classy place. Better than the shithole I just got tossed out of.

[He tosses a dirty look over his shoulder.]

Don't need them anyway. I can do better. [A long swig from the bottle.] What kinda work requires a dress like that, anyway?

Singing.

[But oh, that isn't what she's focusing on.]

... Did you just get fired?

I just beat the shit outta my boss. [An obvious lie, but he still smirks proudly.] Asshole deserved it. That'd be what you call quitting.

[Oh please, please call him on this. The blood still smeared across his face is obviously not someone else's.]

[Yeah, she's grabbing his arm to stop him, her other hand reaching up to cup his cheek and rub her thumb under his healing eye. Sorry Pyro, you're tough when you have your fire, but otherwise....]

Is that right? You don't look like you're in very good shape.

[He scowls, pulling his head away.]

I got in a hit, anyway. He'll need some stitches before he goes home.

[She drops her hand with a slight sigh. Well, he needs to get cleaned up, so with her grip still on his arm she's going to start leading him back to his place.]

Were you drinking before this fight started?

[He stumbles, then falls into stride with her, shrugging carelessly.]

Yeah, so? S'not a busy bar. Gets boring. They never noticed.

[Good boy. Thankfully Baldr house isn't that much longer of a walk.]

I'm pretty sure drinking on the job is a really bad idea, especially when you actually get drunk.

It's a bar. How else do you get through a shift? So many losers and drunks...

[Good time for him to tug on her grip and get her to stop as he suppreses a wave of nausea.]

I - I bet they all do it. He just picked on me 'cause I'm not one of them.

[She stops, watching him with renewed concern. She'd really rather not see him vomit again, so she's going to rub his back soothingly.]

I think you should sober up before you start making accusations.

I don't give a shit. It's not like I'm going back.

[When a bit of the colour returns to his face, he stands up straight and starts walking again.]

There's better jobs here, just have to find 'em.

[And away they go. She smiles faintly.]

You could always apply at the bar I work at.

[That's mostly a joke, he's drunk for crying out loud.]

[He glances at her, giving the dress a once-over again, and snorts.]

Doubt it, if I'd have to dress up that much. Can you see me in a suit?

[She gives him a soft chuckle.]

Bartenders don't have to look that nice. Just a buttoned up shirt, that kind of thing.

I'll check it out, anyway.

[Because of potential job, and because her voice was so unearthly and strange in those dreams, he wants to hear it again. But he won't admit that side of it.]

Whoa, hold up. [Time for some more bending over and deep breathing.]

Sure, sure.

[She comes to a stop, rubbing his back again. She isn't expecting it, but if he does actually get a job there she would be able to help keep him in line.

... Or at least stop drinking while on the job.]

Are you going to be alright?

Fine. [It's abrupt, though, and followed by an ominous gurgling in his throat. He just has to breathe through it, he's not throwing up again...

... sure enough, it passes eventually, and he's able to right himself again.]

You don't think you're not a witch here, right? Just 'cause you can't do anything with it?

[Out of left field, but not after some of the discussions he's had here.]

[Definitely out of left field. She blinks at him, guessing it's the drunkenness that's brought this on. She can't imagine him being sober and asking that.]

I'm still a Witch.

- Half. You know.

[She hesitates, then continues.] Not being able to use my magic doesn't suddenly mean I'm completely human.

Why doesn't anyone else get that? Even people who're like us figure they should just let go of everything and be "normal" for awhile. It's sick.

[His hands ball into fists. That talk with Isaac impacted him more than he realized, and seeing him again tonight just reinforced it. It's like Rogue all over again, so self-pitying and scared by their own existence because they could hurt people. Sick.]

[He must have been talking to someone else....]

I think those kinds of people are the ones who want to be normal to begin with. So if they get the chance of course they'd jump on it.

If you can't, that's just a waste of time. Man up and start learning to work with what you got.

[Of course he felt it, for a little while. Twelve years old and just deserted by his parents. But once he met others like him and learned what mutation really meant, it passed quickly.]

"Normal" people are the ones who've always come after us anyway, so why would you ever wanna be that?

Honestly... I don't know.

[There's only a short pause before she starts explaining.]

Back home 'normal' didn't mean being human, it meant being a Witch. And that meant being clever and strategic and powerful.

A Witch would never want to be human. Humans are weak and frail and stupid, and inferior in every way to a Witch.

[He can't help but laugh.] I love it when you talk dirty to me.

[It doesn't last for too long, though.]

And if humans hunted you guys - I know, you're too powerful, but just go with it - would you forget all about that just 'cause you didn't have your witch powers? If one that you knew had hunted you was here?
