GIrls Night Out (Closed)

Who: Samantha and Penelope
What: Attempts at Relaxation just before this place turns into a frozen hell for a week.
When: Backdated to Evening 302
Where: Folkvang Comfort House
Rating: PG, maybe PG-13, Just awkward conversations and general body consciousness issues for both of them.

She didn't do this often enough. That was the first thing on Samantha's mind as she made her way towards Folkvang. She'd sent directions onto little miss Handkerchief and a good time to meet up and now she was standing just outside of the entrance. At least it wasn't raining today, and the temperatures weren't too cool. But, as she stood there, waiting on Penelope, she had to reflect on the fact that she hadn't come here in at least a month, and the last time had been with Eve.

Really, she didn't get out enough period. There were only a few people who dragged her out of her house and shop, filled with her plots, plans, research and work. She needed to force herself to do this more often. It was a good excuse, getting to know the strange girl who didn't want her face seen. Pulling out rolling papers, she made herself a cigarette and lit it up. The sweet scent of cloves filled the air around her while she waited, watching the road for her companion this evening.

Penelope had never been to a spa. Even after she'd ran away from home and met Annie, she'd never even considered going to one. After all, what was the point? She knew how to groom herself - except for haircuts; those were always done by Jake who seemed to be a man of many talents - and didn't understand why she would want to waste the money on it, especially when she had better things to purchase. But this place was different than home and even though she still wasn't entirely sure how to feel about Samantha, she seemed kind enough, so Penelope had agreed.

It didn't make her feel any less awkward or nervous about the whole thing as she made her way to Folkvang, however. She ran a gloved hand over her scarf, ignoring the strange glances she got because it was far better than the screams she would hear and the way people would run if she wasn't wearing it. Her eyes scanned just about everything as she walked, eventually landing on Samantha in the distance. Smiling behind her scarf, she offered the girl a brief wave and sped up a bit until she was close enough to smell the clove cigarette as well.

"I'm not late, am I?"

Penelope shook her head, "Your directions were perfect, actually." Of course, Penelope had explored a good portion of the city ever since she arrived here, so that definitely helped.

"I--" She lifted a hand to touch her scarf, brow furrowing a little. She hadn't thought about it, either, but to be fair, Penelope had no idea what to expect when they walked inside. "Do you think they have masks?" The hospital did; maybe Folkvang would have something similar. The gloves could be removed easily enough, but the scarf...

"I don't want you to be uncomfortable," she said, watching as Samantha finished her cigarette. Penelope had only smelled a couple on the streets when she ran away, before she was brought here, but none of them smelled like that. It was actually rather pleasant, unlike most of them. "You're the one paying for this, after all, and it would probably defeat the purpose." Plus it was her own hangups that caused the problems; it wasn't Samantha's fault.

Facials. That sounded like something someone would be giving them, which meant someone would see. Penelope could feel her heart racing in her chest; what if whoever gave them the facials screamed and ran away when they saw her nose? What if Samantha took the cucumbers off her eyes and saw, then did the same? What if she became an ostracized freak here in Asgard?

"I think I'll skip the facial," she said, fingers toying with the end of her scarf. "But the sauna and the blindfold, that'll work."

Penelope followed her inside, reminiscent of a child that's sticking close to their mother for fear of getting lost, and nodded when Samantha turned towards her. "Sure," she said, but quickly added, "Do we... You know, wear just the towel?" She hadn't thought to bring a bathing suit (not that she owned one) and wasn't sure if panties and a bra would go over very well in there, but the idea of only having a towel didn't sit too well with her, either.

It was honestly hard not to notice the scars, but Penelope didn't say anything, despite how curious she was. She shifted her attention to the towel Samantha grabbed, taking hold of it and running her fingers over it to text the thickness. She couldn't feel how soft it was through the gloves, but it seemed more comfortable than itchy.

"I suppose that'll be sufficient," she said after a moment's consideration. "Are there private ares to change, or is this it?"

"Thank you!" Penelope smiled beneath her scarf and gave a bit of a wave, then waited a few minutes after Samantha left the room before moving to undress. She kept her scarf on even though Samantha had agreed to the blindfold, just because walking to the sauna from here would run the risk of too many people seeing. So after she undressed and wrapped the towel around herself, she walked out of the locker room and glanced around, trying to spot the other woman.

It definitely was hot enough that shortly after stepping inside, Penelope wanted to remove her scarf. But she had to be certain there was no one else around, and that Samantha couldn't see through her blindfold. Though she could be too trusting and it could get her into plenty of trouble, she was already feeling on edge today; this was so far out of her comfort zone that she was a little surprised she was still here.

"Yes, it's me." With one hand keeping the towel together, Penelope made her way to sit down beside Samantha. "It really is warm in here, isn't it?"

Taking the ladle from Samantha, Penelope nodded slightly, forgetting for a moment that she couldn't see. "Alright," she said, glancing briefly towards the tail before she reached over to get some water. As she poured some of it onto the rocks, slowly, she pulled her scarf off her face and let it rest down around her neck.

It would come off fully eventually, but having it that close to her face still - just in case - was comforting for her. Even with the blindfold, she was incredibly nervous about pushing her luck like this; even if Samantha was different herself, Penelope still had a deeply embedded fear of her running away.

"I don't." She settled back against the wall, brow furrowing a little in an effort to see better through the steam.

Penelope sat there quietly for a few minutes, staring at the rocks without really seeing them, and not just because of the steam. People certainly seemed less concerned about looks here but it still wasn't easy for her to even imagine walking around without her scarf. Just because Samantha and quite a few others didn't have problems didn't mean she wouldn't. And considering how she'd been kept in hiding her entire life and every single person that saw her nose ran, Penelope wasn't exactly gung-ho about giving it a shot here.

"They may not be," she finally spoke up, voice quiet but firm, "But that doesn't mean I'm comfortable with revealing it. People can be as curious as they'd like."

"I'd appreciate it if you kept your curiosity to yourself until then." She leaned back against the wall and pulled her scarf off her neck completely, toying with the ends for a moment before she set it beside her. It would be damp - if not soaked through - when they were done, which she hadn't thought of; what would she do once they left? "I... I know I can't stop you from being curious without telling you why I use it, but I'd rather not feel pressured."

Perhaps she was coming off rudely, but Penelope really didn't care at that moment; she wanted to make sure that Samantha understood how she felt. If she had a problem with it, Penelope would likely forgo spending time with her again.

"I did, yes," she said, appreciation for the topic change pretty obvious in her tone. She still hadn't relaxed fully, nor quite as much as Samantha, but perhaps she'd get there. Eventually. "The library needed more people, so I got a job there. It's rather perfect for me, too."

"I didn't know that," she said quietly, curiosity now piqued. But she smiled at the question and nearly nodded again. "I am. It's one of my favorite past times." Of course, a lot of that was because it was the only adventure she got, the only chance she had at getting out of the house. So to speak.
