open!

Who: Tris and anyone!
What: Exploring, job-hunting (sorta), climbing places she maybe shouldn't, people-watching.
When: D379, all day.
Where: Around!
Rating: PG so far! May have to update for mentions of violence or language.

[ Tris is out doing what she's been doing periodically since Tobias arrived (not counting the time with the unfortunate sweaters during which she mostly refused to step out of the Welcome Hall): trying to get used to being in Asgard. The culture shock hasn't entirely worn off yet. Too many things are too drastically different. But it helps that she's been largely left alone, and that she's been able to learn new things right off the bat, even though she's not all sure how to feel about healing powers.

But she's once again out exploring, getting a handle on where things are without always having to look at the map. In particular, she's looking at shops and businesses, trying to gauge if she could get a job somewhere - she's never had to work before, but if she wants to move out of the Welcome Hall, she'll have to, and sooner rather than later, at that.

Aside from that, there's practice. Whenever she spies an opportunity, she's probably going to try and climb a building up to the roof, and practice her balance. No free-running expert yet, here, but one may spie a short, skinny teenage girl all in black on a rooftop as well as on the street, for sure. She'll wander around and occasionally just sit down and watch whatever's going on in the street from above.

Run into her anywhere? ]

[As usual he parked his ass at the most isolated table in the place, one next to a window for a view of the crowded city life outside. He doesn't waste any time starting in on the coffee; he's not cold but he could use the pick me up. Coffee always took his mind off of his other problems. Most food and drinks did. Call it a weakness.]

Yeah, it's Dean. What about you?

[An eyebrow raises at the sight of the hot chocolate. He noticed that she lingered around the desk a little longer than necessary but he wasn't gonna embarrass her by asking. Not everyone was from places like modern day America where hot beverages were a cornerstone and things had been that way since before he was born. Dean had quite a few years on this little chick and if he had his way he'd ease into learning about whatever back story she might have.]

That short for anything?

[It was a weird name and he figures he should ask since name's like Castiel usually get shortened by him just out of force of habit. Taking a pull from his coffee Dean settles into his seat a little more comfortably. Finally able to take a load off now that last month's shit storm is over.]

Don't mention it. Anything to get you off the roof.

Don't worry, I like Tris better.

[There's a snort of laughter at the smile she manages after she takes a drink. Typical chick, anything chocolate and she's on cloud 9. He appreciates a good hot chocolate every now and then but not as much as he likes pie. And coffee. They were the cornerstones of his non-alcoholic diet.]

Might not discourage it but it got you down so I'm gonna consider it a win.

I'm the professor of weapons training at one of the local schools, and then I keep bar with whatever time I have left on my hands.

[Applying for the gig teaching weapons to the rest of the travelers here in Asgard was a bold move but one that he didn't regret doing. He'd found a steady balance with both of his jobs and now he didn't have to worry about money or buying the occasional stranger a drink.]

What about you? You found work yet?

Put yourself out there, you never know who'll offer what. I'd give you a busboy job at the bar but that seems a little inappropriate. You're too young to spend most of your time in a local dive.

[Lord knows when he was her age he spent a lot of his time trying to sneak in, but this was a different place, and she was a different person. She probably didn't have the same upbringing. Even if she looked like she could hold her own in a jam.]

Maybe just go to school until you can find something?

[Something's wrong. He can tell by the way she's looking at him with her brows lifted and a frown on her face. Dean weighs his options. Sure, he could ask, but that might open the flood gates for a conversation he doesn't want to have.]

Usually? 12 years. Not counting college. You can drop out and get a GED but I'm not sure that applies to Asgard. It's not your typical school. It teaches subjects that aren't really on the roster in real-time.

For starters, I teach weapons training there. There's a lot of other subjects, most of which you wouldn't see in normal schools and aren't necessarily boring.

[That was for damn sure. If a school like this had existed where Dean was growing up he might not have dropped out when he did and teamed up with his dad to take down monsters. He might have gone through a whole term. It just didn't work out that way. Most places like those had fees and no places were like the one here. Not back home.]

What's wrong with the god houses? Sure, they're assholes but they don't interfere there. Not normally.

[Dean had been in his own god house for a while and never had any problems. He was able to keep to himself and have some privacy when he wanted it and even got to meet a few people who were now friends.]

Aren't you a little young to have a boyfriend?

[I mean, really. She didn't look much older than thirteen but maybe she had a baby face. Dean wasn't sure. Kids these days hit puberty a lot faster than they used to but he's sure his dad and Bobby had similar feelings.]

[personal profile] mulletrock 2014-02-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Huh.

[Dean knows better than to tell a teenager that they look younger than they are or that they're still kids. So instead he plays along.]

If you don't mind bars we need a bus boy. You can pick up after patrons and spend time with me behind the counter and in the kitchen.

[That's why Dean offered. Maybe other places had no wiggle room for schooling but he did and he wanted her to learn as much as she could while she was here. Asgard was no excuse to miss out.]

We'll work something out.

Not exactly.

[Back home he was more of a lone ranger, at least with the exception of Sam being his partner in crime and Cas occasionally playing his copilot. What he did back home was very different.]

This is something new I'm trying. I figure it can't hurt to make sure people here are prepared for the worst.

Most of the city has something up their sleeve.

[Everyone he'd met had a knack for fighting or something that made their trip here worthwhile. The gods weren't messing around.]

You gotta figure. It just pushed my buttons when they pull in kids.

[Kids like Jamie and Jesse who had their whole lives ahead of them and didn't need to be bothered with the crap that was at play here.]
