CHRISTMAS IN JULY, PART TWO;
Days 478-479 (July 13-16th)
- Day 478 (July 14)
- Following a network post announcing an impending attack by ice giants and Thiazi's declaration to the city, the fight begins when a small swarm of pixies descends upon the city, no more than eight inches tall and the definition of "glass cannons." They create chaos however they can: shaking snow onto people, carrying off weapons, and attacking directly if approached without an easy exit. Their teeth are curved like fangs and razor-sharp.
While the pixies stir the city up, the frost giants begin to load the golems up into the catapults. Two by two, the massive ice creatures come crashing - literally - into the city. They land hard and inaccurately, as the engineers' defenses on the city walls keep the giants from approaching too quickly, and some golems seem to be damaged already by the same defenses as they land. The pixies seem to lose interest around sunset (though you may find one or two hidden and sleeping in a snowbank if you look hard enough - they'll attack aggressively if woken), but the fights with the golems continue well into the night, until all in the city are dispatched. Where the pixies turn into snow, the golems transform into large hunks of ice after they are killed. - Day 479 (July 15-16)
- At sunrise, the pixies ascend from their hiding places and scatter, doing their best to break into homes to attack people directly. Today, anyone who finds himself bitten will begin to feel and act strangely.
Ice golems continue to come crashing into the city throughout the morning. All of the original ones slain, Thiazi begins creating more on the spot: while they may be more numerous, they are weaker, and many have odd physical defects. Some are missing arms, and others have extra heads. Following an attack by the strike team, the number itself will begin to thin considerably as one of the catapults is damaged and the other is destroyed completely.
Just before sunset, Thiazi delivers a final message and makes a hasty retreat with her entourage of frost giants. The spell responsible for the odd weather breaks the moment that she passes the threshold a half mile out, and all remaining pixies and golems in the city immediately, mid-action, turn to snow and ice.
By midnight, the city is thawed completely.

Heh, I feel like I should apologize, because I seem to always tl;dr at you.
Sorry, that's him, yeah. [ He managed to get out through clenched teeth. ]
Not really sure about memory loss, but there's a lot I'm not sure of.
[ It took him a moment to catch his breath, but soon enough, he was able to respond: ]
I suppose, at least a little. Never really been one for nostalgia.
[ At least, not nostalgia for his other selves, although really, what was the difference between looking back fondly on them and feeling nostalgic? So maybe he did, in a way. ]
I don't think I can say we agree all the time, but we talk sometimes. [ He wasn't in the habit of going out of his way to avoid them. That just seemed silly. ]
But you don't have to apologize, not for that, 'cause I'm the one who chose to get in your way. [ So it was his fault he'd been hurt in the first place, because he just had to get involved. ]
Suppose I'll try anything at least once. Tea's good, but then again, so are a lot of things. [ Meaning he won't rule out the possibility of going for a drink with Soushi. He might even enjoy it, who knows? ]
It's fine.. No worries. tl;dr at me all you want. It's great reading material!
...not at all, it's fine. [And.] A lot you're uncertain about? [He doesn't expect the Doctor to answer, not really.
And just as quickly he asked the question, just as quickly he will change the subject to his other selves instead. A pensive expression appearing on his features as he can't help feel some envy over the matter. Unlike him, if he ever found his previous incarnation, he would kill him without a second thought. Well, after punching and torturing him first, of course.] ...with all of time on your disposal, I suppose even you would have a difficult time looking back on your past. [And just as he keeps listening to the relationship he has with his different phases in life, he couldn't help ask, just for curiosity's sake.] If I may be as bold, could I ask you a very personal question? Regarding your incarnations and love life? [He remembers one of his incarnations speaking about a woman named Rose. The girl who witnessed his regeneration and even thought she loved the Doctor, she rejected his other self at first. Soushi could not help wonder if this Doctor has lived throught that experience or a similar one. He simply wanted to know if he did the right thing concerning his own situation back home regarding his master, his past self, and his current self.]
No. As expressed beforehand, you aren't at fault, I am. I should apologize for my behavior. As someone whose only purpose is to protect and serve others, I feel shame in allowing my... [He won't say the word "demon", even if the Doctor knows he has nine tails and fox ears.] more feral half to get the better of me...again. [He won't talk about the first time.] In my world, if I've ever acted out as I did today, I would be put to death...no matter the reason for it. [So, in his own way, he wishes to make up for it as he finds the entire situation more his fault than the Doctor's. At the very least, that is how he views it as.]
...once the city calms down and your wounds are healed... [He'll be helping the Doctor move forward again, one step at a time.] I'll invite you to the Comfort Inn. It'll be my treat. The girls there are kind acquaintances of mine. I'm certain they'll allow us to drink and use the steam bath or hot springs one of these days... [Or not, Soushi could always charm them enough to allow it on a very good price even when they have their stores closed due to the war.]
I'm glad you don't mind. XD tl;dr is one of my weak spots
I mean that things happened before I turned up and I'm only just starting to understand the scale of those things. [ He got the rough picture from his bowtie-wearing self, but even then, he wondered if maybe there was more he didn't know. ]
It's not difficult looking back; it's just a bit odd, really, in a sort of nostalgic sense. [ That statement didn't make sense, but he really couldn't find another way of stating it. Maybe again it was the blood loss talking. ]
Depends on the question, I suppose, but why not, ask away.
[ He listened as Soushi put forward his question, and then the Doctor's eyebrows drew together. ]
What about that? [ It wasn't odd, exactly, but then he'd never really heard the question phrased quite that way. Soushi's explanation of his plans brought a smile to the Doctor's face, even though it was tempered a bit by the discomfort he was currently feeling. ]
That sounds nice, actually. I'll look forward to it.
[ If, for some reason, he didn't wind up making it to the hospital before the blood loss grew too severe, it would be nice to have something pleasant to look forward to. Maybe next time he wouldn't be so quick to throw himself into the path of danger, but then again, he knew it was habit and saying he wouldn't wasn't enough to really stop him. ]
