CHRISTMAS IN JULY, PART TWO;
Days 478-479 (July 13-16th)

Day 478 (July 14)
Following a network post announcing an impending attack by ice giants and Thiazi's declaration to the city, the fight begins when a small swarm of pixies descends upon the city, no more than eight inches tall and the definition of "glass cannons." They create chaos however they can: shaking snow onto people, carrying off weapons, and attacking directly if approached without an easy exit. Their teeth are curved like fangs and razor-sharp.

While the pixies stir the city up, the frost giants begin to load the golems up into the catapults. Two by two, the massive ice creatures come crashing - literally - into the city. They land hard and inaccurately, as the engineers' defenses on the city walls keep the giants from approaching too quickly, and some golems seem to be damaged already by the same defenses as they land. The pixies seem to lose interest around sunset (though you may find one or two hidden and sleeping in a snowbank if you look hard enough - they'll attack aggressively if woken), but the fights with the golems continue well into the night, until all in the city are dispatched. Where the pixies turn into snow, the golems transform into large hunks of ice after they are killed.

Day 479 (July 15-16)
At sunrise, the pixies ascend from their hiding places and scatter, doing their best to break into homes to attack people directly. Today, anyone who finds himself bitten will begin to feel and act strangely.

Ice golems continue to come crashing into the city throughout the morning. All of the original ones slain, Thiazi begins creating more on the spot: while they may be more numerous, they are weaker, and many have odd physical defects. Some are missing arms, and others have extra heads. Following an attack by the strike team, the number itself will begin to thin considerably as one of the catapults is damaged and the other is destroyed completely.

Just before sunset, Thiazi delivers a final message and makes a hasty retreat with her entourage of frost giants. The spell responsible for the odd weather breaks the moment that she passes the threshold a half mile out, and all remaining pixies and golems in the city immediately, mid-action, turn to snow and ice.

By midnight, the city is thawed completely.

Well, never, 'cause in most worlds, that's not exactly possible.

[ He's starting to think of Chessur as a particularly stubborn onion, one with lots of layers and almost none of them are easily peeled back. But maybe he'll get to learn more about him if they keep talking. ]

At any rate, I've never met a cat that's quite like you.
madvaporskillz: (Such a shame to be imprisoned)

[personal profile] madvaporskillz 2014-08-16 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
[It's more likely that way then if they don't keep talking at least. But if Chessur can be kept on topic, then... yes, he might be able to learn something.]

Nor will you again. It's only unfortunate that you won't be able to see me as I should have been, if I'd not been called out of Underland.

[When he'd had proper fur and only rarely deigned to settle on the ground.]

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-08-19 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
But you can describe that, can't you? Or is that something you'd rather keep a secret?

[ The Doctor knows a thing or two about keeping secrets, but also he knows how difficult it can be for people (and cats) to divulge said secrets in the first place. ]
madvaporskillz: (I'm just the monster out of the closet)

I could. As could any who knew me then. But words are ill-suited to a cat, sometimes. Even ones less so than I.

[He's grinning too, the same old grin that is some common to him. One that stretches a little too wide to be any normal grin, for all that it's likely well-meant or as much so as anything can be, in this case.]

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-08-26 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, so the question is, are you going to, or do I just have to guess?

[ Clearly the cat's not fond of giving straight or plain answers. ]
madvaporskillz: (human: my how unique)

[personal profile] madvaporskillz 2014-08-29 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Which would you rather? Although I can tell you, you've seen some already.

[He still has a tail to his name and that's not changed, nor the fur on his ears, for all that it matches the color (colors, rather) of his hair.]
notbychoice: ([60])

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-09-04 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, but some isn't the whole picture, is it?

[ He noticed the fur and the tail, and of course, the skin and the teeth, but he's willing to bet there's more going on besides just his appearance. ]
madvaporskillz: (human: a grin without a cat)

[personal profile] madvaporskillz 2014-09-06 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Chessur shrugs at that, and for a gesture he's only started to pick up now that he's human - more or less - it manages to be a remarkably fluid sort of gesture.]

Of course not. But perhaps one of the Alices could manage a drawing, although neither of those would be quite me. The Alice isn't here, you see.

[Not 'my Alice,' for all that they're nearer of the same place than him and any other Alice. Alice is her own Alice, with her own muchness and he would hardly dare to presume otherwise, be it in word or thought.]

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-09-08 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, of course. Mind you, I don't mean a literal picture, but then again, I suppose that would be infringing a bit on your privacy if I were to see you as you really are.

Everyone's entitled to their secrets, I think.

[ So long as those secrets aren't causing anyone harm, that is. Either way, he'll take what he can get from Chessur, and he figures he knows enough about him already. Prying or badgering him for more details would just be counter-productive. If, at some point, the cat decides to relate more information, then that's good enough for him. ]
madvaporskillz: (I can? Oh joy~)

[personal profile] madvaporskillz 2014-09-09 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, but how Alice sees me may not be how I see me. But you may have something, in secrets. And what would a cat be without a few of those?

[And they're harmless enough here. What happened in Underland may stay oin Underland for the rest of days. Especially with none to ask him where he'd been on that most catastrophic of days.

Besides, it's been hard enough to get even this out of him, so why should anything more not prove likewise?]

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-09-17 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
What would anyone be, without a few of those?

So, what I'm learning is, you're a cat that's not a cat just as much as you are a cat, and you've got your own way of viewing yourself, same as anyone. And, you can tell me if I'm wrong, but you're really not so different from the rest of us who're here.

[ Everyone's got their own perception of themselves, and everyone's got their secrets too. It doesn't matter if someone's a human, a Time Lord, or a cat that's not quite a cat. ]
madvaporskillz: (happycat is out of happy)

[personal profile] madvaporskillz 2014-09-20 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I'm not. Or maybe I only seem that way to other people, in which case I'd surely not know. I can hardly be anyone else.

[He can't even read anyone's mind, for all that he's aware that it's the other ability that could come of the house he's meant to belong to now. And even if he could he's not entirely certain he'd wanted to be in someone else's mind, when his own is more than enough.]
notbychoice: ([60])

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-09-21 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ Somehow, as he listens, he's wondering what the cat might think if he informed him that there's people (himself, and his past and future selves) that can be other people while still being themselves. ]

Well, it doesn't matter what I think, anyway. What matters is what you think about yourself.

[ And since he feels like he's beginning to ramble on, he decides to go for a different conversation topic. ]

So, here's a question: what're your thoughts on this place?

[ He's realized he likes getting people's varying opinions on Asgard and the gods roaming around. It makes for interesting conversation, if nothing else. ]

[personal profile] madvaporskillz 2014-09-25 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's terribly strange. And hardly the normal sort either.

[It's mundane, almost, for all that he's not aware enough of it to use the word. All he knows is that it's a good deal less exciting than Underland was even on its least interesting days and that makes it almost boring especially when there's only the war that's supposed to loom over there had to be of any interest.]

But at least there are Alices here.

[personal profile] notbychoice 2014-10-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Is there a normal sort of strange?

[ It seems to him that his definition of strange is constantly being changed by things that go on around him, so in his opinion, there really isn't. ]

I suppose any Alice is better than none at all, right?
