[ He stands, putting his hands in his pockets and glancing down at Bran expectantly. ]

I'm gonna head back there. You should come with me.

[Bran's face pales, his cold-reddened features standing out.]

I can't. You can go on yourself.

So you're just gonna sit here until-- What? You freeze?

I don't think waiting it out is going to get you sent home any faster, kid.

[Frustration suddenly flashes in his eyes, particularly at the word "kid".]

I can't walk.

[ Killua's eyes widen, but the surprise doesn't last long. No wonder he'd just been sitting here, then...

He takes it in stride, turning to stand in front of Bran. There's no pity in his eyes, voice just matter-of-fact. ]

Okay, then. I'll carry you. You can't just sit out here forever.

[That... wasn't the answer he was expecting to hear.]

You can't carry me! You're too small.

Sure I can. I could carry muuuch further than the Hall is, even.

[ He's not bragging: it's just the plain ol' truth. ]

But if you'd rather just sit there until you're part of the scenery, it's not like I can force you. Well, I could, but I'm not gonna.

Anyway, I'm getting hungry. You coming or not?

[He wants to decline. He really, truly does. Having to be toted around by a half-giant is one thing, but someone near his own age? Bran can almost hear the taunts of the visiting Walder children again. He would rather bury his head in the snowdrift. Except...

It is cold out here, and Killua has a point. Sit here all day and he's liable to freeze right into the sidewalk, as his fur cloak grows damper. Feeling the last shred of dignity drain out, he takes a deep, reluctant breath.]

Okay. [ That's settled, then. He crouches down in front of Bran with a small smile. ]

Do you want to go piggyback? Or would something else be more comfortable?

[Bran frowns, feeling embarrassed and very small by the whole situation.]

[ Killua positions himself to make it easy for Bran to grab hold of his shoulders, and as soon as the boy does so, Killua pulls him up and stands as lightly as though he weighs nothing at all. ]

You don't know which room is yours yet do you?

[Bran locks his arms around Killua's shoulders, unused to being carried by someone much closer to the ground.]

No, sorry. I haven't been to find it yet.

Don't fuss. I'm not gonna drop you.

We can look for it.

[ He pauses, not sure if Bran is going to like the question or not, but it needs to be asked. ]

So they really brought you here with no way for you to even get to your room, or anywhere else for that matter?

Yes. The maid only brought me as far as the gate.

[He wasn't expecting hospitality in the first place, but to hear Killua regard his treatment with disbelief gives him a spark of righteous anger.]

Wonder if they've got wheelchairs... I mean, they have TVs and stuff.

We should ask around.

... I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about.

You don't know what a wheelchair is? It's like... a chair. That has wheels. So you can move around on it without having to use your legs.

Even if it's not high-tech and you need to use your arms to move the wheels, it would get you places without having to be carried.

We don't have anything like that, not that I've heard of.

[There's an excited swell in his chest at the thought.]

How does it work? How do you move the wheels?

Well... For the basic kind, you push the wheels to move them. I guess you'd need some arm strength for that. Or you can have someone easily push you. There are handles in the back.

[ He doesn't want to get Bran's hopes up, since Killua honestly has no idea if Asgard has wheelchairs at all, but if they do... ]

I've seen motorized ones you can move and turn with some switches, but like I said, I don't know if they've got 'em here. We could see if anyone around here knows. I've talked to some people using the bracelets, and they're pretty convenient, actually.

[This concept has officially gone over Bran's understanding of primitive technology. His chin pokes against Killua's shoulder as he leans forward.]

What does "motorized" mean?

[ Killua laughs, shaking his head. ]

Your world doesn't have a whole lot of technology, does it?

I don't know.

Then I bet the TV and game room is going to blow your mind.

First though, let's find where your room is and ask about wheelchairs. If they have magical cell phone bracelets, they've gotta have some, right?

[He's just given up on trying to understand everything that Killua's telling him about. He gives a small hum of confused agreement. Then, after a pause - ]

Where are you from?

The Republic of Padokea. Not that you know where that is. It's pretty crazy, this whole 'different worlds' business, but I guess anything is possible.

[ They're approaching the Welcome Hall, and Killua carries Bran up the steps lightly, getting them inside and out of the cold finally so they can start figuring out where the younger boy's room will be. ]

What's your world like? Not a lot like here, I take it.
