Ah so it was someone new. Guess it was a good thing that she had stopped. At the question Yuiko nods.

"I do, I actually stay in the Freya welcome hall and I'm part of the welcome committee. Ah though I don't have any of the baskets or anything on me at the moment."

Yuiko was trying to seem as cheerful and calm as she could, she remembered just how scary it was to come to a strange city and then hear about war and everything. Luckily she had Ritsuka there when she arrived. Ack, now wasn't the time to get distracted though.

"Oh I'm Yuiko by the way, Yuiko Hawatari."

Maribelle was quite relieved to have found herself in the company of someone who knew the city better than she. Offering an almost friendly sort of smile, she nodded at the girl. "My name is Maribelle," she said, gracefully lowering herself into a curtsey. She may have been summoned as though she was some low-born peasant, but that was no excuse to act like she was one.

"Perhaps you would be so kind as to tell me what you know of this place?" She'd already been given the basics, but to be perfectly honest, her head was positively spinning over all of this.

What was that phrase, their tactician and used? Oh, yes. Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

"It's nice to meet you."

Well she seemed really polite, and Yuiko could guess that she was probably from somewhere west from the way she was dressed. Really it kind of made her feel underdressed since she just had her skirt and top she had found that she thought was cute.

Nodding her head though Yuiko tried to figure out where to start.

"Umm well, you probably already know that it's called Asgard and that it a place where a bunch of worlds come together according to the gods. There's nine different districts, and each has a welcome hall for a different god. You can stay in the welcome hall of the god that picked you for free, or move into paid housing, but you can't stay in another god's welcome hall. They each have their own color, see like my jewel is pink since it was Freya."

"I am charmed to meet you, I'm sure," came the somewhat stiff reply, as she was still quite disoriented from all that was going on around her. She listened gratefully to Yuiko's explanations, being careful to take it all in as much as she could. At the mention of the girl sharing her House, the relief she felt was palpable. "Then you, too, have been chosen by Freya? What a providential coincidence."

She meant it, too, as she was genuinely curious about the goddess who had called her. "And what is this goddess like, I wonder? Would you be so kind as to share your knowledge of her?" She knew bits and pieces from her rather unorthodox introduction, but she still wanted to learn as much as she could.

Yuiko figured that Maribelle was in Freya too, and it was really confusing trying to find the god house after everything else the maid and pamphlets threw at you. Nodding to reassure that she was Yuiko figured she would start with what she had been told about why Freya chose people.

"She's really nice, and someone said that she chooses those that really care about someone special. All the people in the welcome hall are friendly, and Freya occasionally comes around gives gifts. Though I haven't really had a chance to speak with her directly or anything."

"Oh? How fitting." Really, considering Maribelle's devotion to Lissa, who was her dearest friend, it was unsurprising. Maribelle's loyalty may have been difficult to earn for most, but there was no denying that once one had, there was no denying that the young woman would gladly walk through fire for the ones she loved. In fact, that was why she was so eager to gain a foothold in is place; so she could defend everyone and everything she cared for, and she would show neither regret at being separated from them (however long that would be) nor resentment at having been taken away.

"How lovely. I hope I might gain the honor of meeting our patron." And perhaps demand why she hadn't been called as soon as the war wit Plegia had ended, considering what was at stake now. Really, one would think gods to be more prompt than that.

"Actually you can contact her using your bracelet if you wanted, or leave her a message. Some people go to her shrine too to leave gifts sometimes too."

Yuiko had spoken to one or two of the gods since she had arrived on the bracelet, and knew that there were a lot of people who would ask for stuff when they went to the shrine.

"You can talk to anyone that's in Asgard using it actually. It's a really good way to check and see how everyone is doing and is really helpful to find out what's going on."

Though it could be a little scary to know what was going on too.

Maribelle was quite familiar with the concept of prayer and worship, but she was most definitely not familiar with the concept of meeting one's own gods - at least, before one was dead, which Maribelle wasn't. "Well, then, perhaps I shall have a word," Maribelle replied with a flip of her hair.

"Well, then, I thank you for the information, Yuiko. It has been quite useful." As stiff and difficult as she could be, and as difficult the situation she was facing was, there was no way Maribelle would forget her manners. "Might there be anything else you would be able to share with me, such as where one can have a nice cup of tea?" This was all quite a lot to take in. Perhaps it would be more easily absorbed sitting down.

"It's no problem, I'm part of the Welcome Committee so I'm supposed to help those who are new."

Though really it had seemed lately that there were a lot more people leaving than were arriving, and it was a lot more spread out than it had been before. At the mention of tea though, Yuiko takes a moment to think. She knew a lot of the different shops and the natives that ran them, but she wasn't really one to drink tea. Oh but then she was probably looking for hot tea right?

"There's a few different cafe places a little closer to the enter of the city."

"Nevertheless, I thank you. It must be difficult, dealing with new arrivals, and with all this hanging over us! You're quite brave." Maribelle genuinely meant that, of course; those who took the time to display kindness during a war were often the bravest and most admirable of all.

It was nice to hear that there was at least tea in this place, but then, Maribelle likely didn't have the currency needed to trade here. Good heavens, did that mean she was a pauper? How distressing, not to mention shameful! But she gave no sign as to her inner turmoil. Instead, she simply nodded at the girl. "I see. Well, it's good to know this world isn't quite so rude as to deny us our teatime, at least."

[personal profile] made_4_ritsuka 2014-08-03 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yuiko blushes a little at the compliments, she hadn't really thought of herself as brave at all. Not when she had been really scared during the attacks and not being able to help at all when the golems had showed up.

"Ah, well everyone has something that they do to help everyone else. We all kind of had to sign for a committee and this was the only way I could think to help."

She was just a child after all. "Ah no they'll really try to get you anything that you could need, though there are some things that they don't really understand when you ask for it. I remember asking for a slushie and they had never heard of it."

"Help, you say? Well, I should very much like to give aid when I can. Would you be able to tell me what committees there are?" Maribelle was a woman of many skills, and she wasn't about to let them go to waste, especially when they seemed to be needed the most. Besides, wasn't it the sworn duty of nobility to aid those less fortunate than themselves when they could?

"They?" she repeated, tilting her head to one side in thought. Were they, perhaps, assigned servants? But there was another question. "What in the name of Ylisse is a slushie?"

Things were just getting to be more and more strange.

[personal profile] made_4_ritsuka 2014-08-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I can, I still have a lot of the pamphlets from when they had the fair a few weeks ago."

At least she thinks she still has them, though at the moment she's distracted by the fact that the other doesn't know what a slushie is either.

"Really, you don't know either. It's a drink that's really good, though if you drink it too fast you'll get brain freeze. But's it great whenever it's really hot, so occasionally I would get one along with a burrito from 7-eleven on my home from school. They don't have them here though."

"May I have a look, please? It would be most useful, knowing what options I have in this situation." If she knew where she might be needed, perhaps her inner thoughts might quiet themselves a little. Honestly, she always thought herself at her best when she was lending aid - not that she didn't strive to always be at her best to begin with.

And really, Maribelle hadn't the foggiest idea as to what else Yuiko was speaking about. She simply nodded along politely and wondered if the girl would start making sense anytime soon.
