Maribelle is mostly unfamiliar with accents other than Feroxian and Plegian, and neither accent sounded the least bit like Rose's. It was her manner of speech that had Maribelle knowing. She had spent much of her life at court, after all. "I haven't - not just yet. I've been trying to get my bearings." Being torn from her world had done that to her.

"Unnerving is a good way of putting it," came the reply, Maribelle's gaze following Rose's. Their dull, bleak-looking skin reminded her much of the Risen in her own world - but at least here, the ones wandering around them seemed to have no interest in eating or killing people. That was something, at least.

"A pleasure, Rose," said Maribelle, dropping into an elegant curtsey. "My name is Maribelle."

Well, she was sharp, this one. "Quite," Maribelle replied, nodding her head in agreement. While she had slowly become a bit more social during the war (and honestly, nothing brought people together like the knowledge that any one of them - or all of them - might be dead soon), she still wasn't accustomed to... well, most people. And most people were not accustomed to her, which often put her at quite the disadvantage.

"I am a member of Freya's house. And yourself?"

"Oh? Are there not many in her house?" Maribelle had been able to learn a little about her house, and others as well, but there was so very much to take in that she frankly felt a little dizzy when she considered it all. And so far, she had seen no one familiar to her in the least. Could she really be all alone in this place? She wasn't certain if she felt more relieved or frightened at the thought.

"May I ask what you are doing? Perhaps I might be able to assist." If she was to be drawn into this war (and as worthy a cause as she found it, she most definitely felt as is she were being dragged), the she would at least make herself useful.

Well, it had been worth a try. While she had already met Yuiko, it would be nice to meet more from Freya's domain. Perhaps then, it would be easier to get a feel for their goddess, especially since Maribelle hardly felt inclined to speak with her at the moment. Maybe there would be time for such things later.

"I have," came the answer, "but I'm still reeling a little. Would you mind telling me about it?" She'd gotten the information from Loki's rather childish posts, but there was still so much she needed to know.

Giants? And here she'd thought the Risen were bad. "Well, then, I suppose we shall have to stop them, shan't we?" Maribelle replied, given a confident smirk. She may very well be unnerved, or even outright afraid, but damned if she would let that stop her. She was a noble, and a noble most certainly did not bow to the rabble, however large they might be.

"One never gets anywhere in life without confidence, especially where battle is involved." She would know, after all - she'd been able to frighten off many a ruffian with nothing more than a fiery glower and a few well-placed jabs of her parasol. But Maribelle also knew that it would take much, much more than simple confidence to get through this - and she was fully intending to have skill in spades by the time all hell broke loose.

It sounded like this friend of Rose's knew what they were talking about. Maribelle had confidence and poise in spades, and it had gotten her through many a difficult situation, from her loneliness at court (until Lissa came along, that is) to the war with Plegia. "It is," she replied, "but not by much. One who lacks surety in battle is not likely to last very long." It was tragic, but that was just the way things were, she supposed - even if it broke her heart that things had to be that way.
