Well, he had a point, the silly thing. Even so, the way he was talking around her made Maribelle feel as though he mightn't have any manners at all. "Then, at least tell me your name, sir. Surely you're not so ill-mannered as to decline such a thing, when a lady has asked." And already asked before, at that. Really, with the way he talked, one wondered if he might be making fun at her.

"You may call me Chessur."

He's not certain that he's really anyone who should be called sir - it's far too human a term, really - but he's not about to complain too much either. He still has a cat's pride, even if he might not look much like a cat at the moment.

Nor is he really making fun of her. It's simply how he speaks, and while it might be highly unusual outside of Underland, that too isn't likely to change anytime soon.

"Very well, then, Chessur." At last, a straight answer - and without any mocking. This place was giving her enough of a headache as it was without someone tossing out riddles in the form of sentences. But he seemed as if he really wasn't toying with her, and that - combined with the answer he'd given - placated her somewhat.

"And what house are you in?"

"Why, Loki's. A fitting house, if a cat must be assigned to one."

The house of tricksters and those more mischievous than they perhaps have a right to be. But it suits him, and though he's not fond of not having the same sort of abilities as he'd had in Underland, but he has no complaint about the house itself. Even if he spends more of his time not actually staying in his house's welcome hall.

(He's still a cat, if nothing else, and being tied to one location has never been for him.)

Did he just refer to himself as a cat? Maribelle gave the strange man a rather incredulous look, her eyebrows raising. "I beg your pardon?" Well, with the way he spoke, it would really come as no surprise to her if he were more than a bit mad. But she didn't really know much about Loki, and had yet to even speak to any of the gods. Who knew what they were like?

Well, besides the obvious bit of rudely neglecting to ask one's permission before dragging one into a completely unfamiliar realm to fight a completely unfamiliar was, that is.

"You shouldn't need to beg for it, when I'm willing to give it."

His pardon, that is. Unfortunately, his answer is a far cry from the explanation that she'd likely been looking forward to. Especially as regarding the fact that he has just referred to himself as a cat. But he figures he can see where this particular answer of his should happen to go before anything else. It's hardly fun, to offer all the answers at once, or so it is with him.

Maribelle closed her eyes and exhaled - a bit dramatically, it must be said - through her nose. When she opened her eyes again, they were narrowed in unimpressed annoyance. "Well, then," she told him, finally having had enough of what she saw as his poor manners, "I thank you for the conversation, but I really must be going. I have quite a lot of settling in to do, and I can hardly waste it standing around here, can I?"

The answer, of course, was obvious, and with a polite node, Maribelle rather stiffly turned and walked away, heading further into her district.

"Do try to settle well."

There's a grin with his words, but he makes no other attempt to stop her from leaving. And he's noting, too, that she seems to be less inclined to stoop to the sort of wordplay that he prefers. A shame, but he can deal with it. There will be other people and perhaps he can try again when there's no settling to be done.
