[Adachi had been lounging on his bed in his apartment in Loki District since the announcement, staring up at the ceiling most of the time when he wasn't rolling around like a useless lump. It was all over, they weren't needed anymore. They could all go back home to their peachy lives and never have to remember this place again if they didn't want to.]
[...he didn't ever have to think about how much he enjoyed being on the City Patrol, how it made him feel like a detective again. Or he found a woman that made him excited, or another one that opened his eyes, or how he almost died trying to do his own part or... anything.]
[All he'd have were three walls and bars, and a short time to think on his life.]
[Finally, Adachi slapped his hands on his mattress, bolting upright... and a few hours and some stubborn determination later, he could be found just outside the portal, a massive stack of flyers in hand. He was passing them out to anyone that passed by, Traveler and native alike, one of his usual lopsided smiles on his face.]
Hey, c'mon, let's keep the City Patrol going, make sure we can preserve this peace thing we've got going.
Hey, are you stayin'? Why not join up with the City Patrol? We'll get it back up and running again for the city.
[...this was probably the most enthusiastic he had been in his entire life.]

[... But then she wouldn't be able to finish something very important she hadn't gotten the chance to do before she left last time ...]
[Harley threw the crumpled flyer back into Adachi's face and kicked him in the balls. Mission accomplished.]
no subject
Harl--!
[...and then she kicked him in the balls.]
[Adachi let out a groan, eyes nearly bugging out of his head as he clutched at his precious, sinking down to his knees. It took him a moment to catch his breath, before he could finally turn one of his lopsided grins up at her.]
H-heh... I-I missed 'ya too, dollface.
no subject
Like I'd believe that. If anything, you just missed getting your dick wet.
no subject
[AT LEAST HE'S HONEST?!]
Though with everything going on, it woulda been great if you were around.

no subject
Man... well, we beat the bad guys? I got to be kinda hero-ish?
no subject
[She turned on her heel and looked around. Would her old room still be open? Did she even remember how to get there? Crap. A perfectly good exit ruined by a poor sense of direction. Crap crap crap.]
no subject
W-wait... I mean it, I really did miss you.
no subject
Well? So what?
no subject
I-I'm sorry.
no subject
What are you after, Tohru?
no subject
[He let go of her after a moment, rubbing at the back of his neck.]
We could... talk about it over a drink? ...as in coffee. Not. You know.
no subject
Fine. Fine, okay, but you're paying.
no subject
Yeah, sure.
[He paused a moment, before gesturing to her face.]
So... is this how you usually look?
no subject
[She shrugged and started walking in the direction of a coffee shop.]
Y'know, doing crime stuff.
no subject
...it's a good look.
no subject
You are so weird.
no subject
[He looked stupidly proud of that.]
But you liked that about me once.
no subject
[She almost smiled again and sharply looked away. Not at anything in particular, really, just not at him.]
But then, I'm famous for having bad taste in men.
[She crossed her arms, closing in on herself, and set off toward the coffee shop again at a faster pace.]
no subject
...I'm staying here. I've had... too much happen here for me not to.
no subject
Okay? I mean, I figured so, going around recruiting with flyers like you were.
If that's what you wanted to tell me, you could have said it back there.
no subject
[He glanced down at his coffee, mulling it over in his head a moment. Geeze, it was easier to spit this out before, when he thought for sure he was going to end up dead and no one would ever think of him again. Now that he had a chance at a decent life...]
I'm an ass. I'm a murderer and I don't give a shit about it. But... these idiot gods trusted me enough to let me in the City Guard, to let me do what I wanted and put up with me when I complained, and then the Tree let me talk to it, and they let me go with the guys offering peace before that last battle and...
[He trailed off with a huff, making a face.]
...point is, I guess if they're stupid enough to trust me, I guess there's more to me than even I know about.
no subject
[Stupid Harley. Stupid, stupid Harley, for thinking - hoping - that maybe, maybe he'd ... She didn't even know. Apologize? Pfft, not likely.]
Okay, well, that's- Good for you. Great job. Sounds like everything's coming up roses.
But I don't-- I mean, it doesn't really have anything to do with me, does it? So...
[She shrugged.]
So I guess I'll take this to go. Thanks for the coffee.
no subject
[Adachi glanced up at her, almost like he was silently asking her to stay, but he couldn't actually say it.]
I mean... I... really like the second chance this place is giving me. So... if this entire world can give me that...
[Can you? Please? But of course, he couldn't actually manage to voice that.]
