[open] The Roadhouse's doors are always open...

Who: Jo Harvelle & you!
What: Some conversations are best had over a beer.
When: various times after dream event.
Where: The Roadhouse
Rating: PG-13?

[ The Roadhouse is most always open - it gives people somewhere to go, and Jo something to do. Some people come to find Jo, other's just come to find peace. Either way, it's good alcohol and an informal atmosphere to forget your troubles for a while...

Just watch out for Ash on the pool table. ]

ooc: had a few plans for Jo and some of her CR, figured I'd throw up an open log for anyone looking for a reason to head to a bar and chat it up with the local, non-native bartender! Feel free to leave OTA tags, or have your characters interact with their own CR with the Roadhouse used as a meeting place of sorts. Totally up to you.

[In some ways, it is. In a lot of ways, actually, but then again so are a lot of other things. Jo leaning on the game is hard to miss, though, and he quickly drops his hand to his side, trying to look as nonchalant about his poking as possible.]

Oh. Ah...hello.

[It's not quite as successful as he would have liked, perhaps, but it'll have to do. And even though there is a spark of surprise as he recognizes her as well, he doesn't look particularly uneasy or uncomfortable at seeing her again.]

Er, well, I was just looking at this machine here. Some sort of game, is it?
bonnypiperlad: (considering)

[Well, there was always the possibility that he wasn't supposed to mess with it, too, but once he confirms it is a game, he no longer winds up looking quite as guilty.]

Oh, I see! So the better ye do the more points ye get. How do ye tell who's done the best with it, then?
bonnypiperlad: (oh aye of course)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2013-05-06 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
So that's what that button was for.

[He would've likely figured that out on his own sooner or later if he'd done some more poking, but he's still clearly interested in how the machine works, so her demonstrating for him is definitely welcome. He takes a moment to look down the list, then up at her expression - which seems to be a wee bit on the pleased side to him.]

Oh, aye, I see. And would your name happen to be Jo, then?
bonnypiperlad: (aye)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2013-05-09 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
[He scratches his ear briefly, looking ever so slightly uncomfortable.]

Aye, well...it's not as though we'd had much of a chance to do that last time we'd met.

[What with the Hellhounds and all. And that part of things wasn't something he was sure would be a good idea to bring up, to be honest. But names, that he can do.]

I'm Jamie McCrimmon, though ye can go ahead and just call me Jamie. It's good to finally meet ye properly. Look, for what it's worth, though...I'm sorry about, well, barging in on your dream like that. I'd not intended to.

Aye, so I've started to notice. Not that I'm so surprised, mind ye. Seems like everywhere I go, there's something.

[Despite the slightly dry note to his voice, he can't say as he minds it that much. It does keep things more on the exciting side. But at her comment, he abruptly gives her a rather crooked smile. Despite everything, it is good to get to know her a little outside the dreams - and it does mean he gets to ask some questions, too.]

And it's nice to meet ye, too...not inside your head. So are ye really as good at this game of yours as the scores seem to say ye are?

bonnypiperlad: (oh aye of course)

[Oh, cocky grins, is it? Jamie's eyebrows arch ever so slightly.]

Now, I'm not saying that. But I've yet to meet a lassie who's as good with a gun as yon machine seems to think, given those numbers on there.
bonnypiperlad: (mocksurprise)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2013-06-02 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Lying? Och, no. I'm just saying that all the best marksmen I've seen haven't been lassies.

[There's the smallest hint of a grin as he says it, which means he's teasing, just a little. But there's an undercurrent of truth to it as well. Not too many women he knew back in the 18th century were crack shots, and even during his travels men tended to be the ones with the guns.]

Mind, ye weren't bad in that dream-thing, but for all I know you're the only one that ever plays that game. Not so hard to have the high scores if ye are.
bonnypiperlad: (nonchalant)

Aye, well, you'd be surprised.

[He watches her with interest, however, as she pushes some wee button or other before gesturing at the game. Well, if she's going to make it that easy for him to beat her, he's not about to turn down that particular offer.]

All right, then, I'll give it a go.

[Deep down he knows there's going to be a small learning curve because of his not actually having played this game before, but he's familiar enough with rifles to be comfortable with them. So he steps forward, picks up the game, and starts. It's not too hard to figure out he needs to aim and shoot to hit the tiny targets that are popping up, and it doesn't take him long to get settled. Once he does, he's not bad at all, enough of his experience with firearms able to get him through the first few rounds of the game with relative ease.]

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2013-06-10 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Aye. Not so hard once ye get the hang of it.

[He's pleased by figuring out the game, and pleased by getting that good of a score at it - and her 'not bad' is more than enough to cause his chest to puff out a little with pride, a crooked smile appearing on his face as well. He steps back, gesturing to the machine, confident that he's done well enought to beat her, in this case.]

All right, then. Let's see how well ye can actually do.
bonnypiperlad: (oh)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2013-06-11 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
[As she sets up, he folds his arms against his chest, that confidence radiating from him to a point where he's almost smug about the whole thing. That doesn't last long, however.

The further along she gets in the game, the more his expression changes - his smile fading first, then his brow knitting and finally something a bit dismayed crossing his face as she finishes off with a score that is clearly much better than the one he managed to get.]

Oh.

[His pride is feeling a bit stung, and he tries not to let too much of it show, masking it under a bit of bravado that probably isn't fooling anyone.]

Aye, well. I might not have gotten the hang of that machine just yet.
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2013-06-16 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
[One hand comes up to rub at the back of his neck a touch sheepishly at her offer to practice, but when she sets her hand on his shoulder, he lets his hand fall back to his side.]

Aye, that's best idea I've heard all day.

[Well, maybe not all day, but it sure sounds like a good one now.]

Don't suppose I could talk ye into letting me know how ye got so good at that, though?
