Who: Tris and anyone!
What: Exploring, job-hunting (sorta), climbing places she maybe shouldn't, people-watching.
When: D379, all day.
Where: Around!
Rating: PG so far! May have to update for mentions of violence or language.
[ Tris is out doing what she's been doing periodically since Tobias arrived (not counting the time with the unfortunate sweaters during which she mostly refused to step out of the Welcome Hall): trying to get used to being in Asgard. The culture shock hasn't entirely worn off yet. Too many things are too drastically different. But it helps that she's been largely left alone, and that she's been able to learn new things right off the bat, even though she's not all sure how to feel about healing powers.
But she's once again out exploring, getting a handle on where things are without always having to look at the map. In particular, she's looking at shops and businesses, trying to gauge if she could get a job somewhere - she's never had to work before, but if she wants to move out of the Welcome Hall, she'll have to, and sooner rather than later, at that.
Aside from that, there's practice. Whenever she spies an opportunity, she's probably going to try and climb a building up to the roof, and practice her balance. No free-running expert yet, here, but one may spie a short, skinny teenage girl all in black on a rooftop as well as on the street, for sure. She'll wander around and occasionally just sit down and watch whatever's going on in the street from above.
Run into her anywhere? ]

[Not to say she hadn't already liked high places, though. Tris glanced at him before entering when he holds the door open for her, so used to thinking in Factions and appropriate behaviour that chivalry was not the first thought on her mind. But she stepped inside without much of a pause.]
Thanks.
[The warmth inside was certainly welcome. She massaged her hands to warm them back up as soon as the door shut behind them.]

[Dean heads up to the counter and orders a coffee black. He glances at the menu, a bunch of sugary sweet drinks he could see Sam drinking and wonders if he should make a suggestion. Instead he just places a few bills on the counter and tells the person behind the counter that he had the girl with him covered.]
Don't mention it. Go ahead and order. I'll find us a place to sit.

You've got a name, right?
no subject
Yeah, it's Dean. What about you?
[An eyebrow raises at the sight of the hot chocolate. He noticed that she lingered around the desk a little longer than necessary but he wasn't gonna embarrass her by asking. Not everyone was from places like modern day America where hot beverages were a cornerstone and things had been that way since before he was born. Dean had quite a few years on this little chick and if he had his way he'd ease into learning about whatever back story she might have.]

[Giving her full name didn't even cross her mind anymore. She didn't comment on the raised eyebrow either, if he had a question, he could ask it. Instead, she slid into her seat, warming up her fingers on the mug. Hot chocolate smelled more or less like she'd expected, kind of like home, but not quite. Close enough to be a comfort.]
Thanks, again.
[People didn't usually buy her drinks when she first met them. Or anything. But then... well, this place was different.]

[It was a weird name and he figures he should ask since name's like Castiel usually get shortened by him just out of force of habit. Taking a pull from his coffee Dean settles into his seat a little more comfortably. Finally able to take a load off now that last month's shit storm is over.]
Don't mention it. Anything to get you off the roof.

[It feels like she hasn't heard her own name in a lifetime. Something foreign to it. But she has no reason to make it a secret, unlike some.
From the first taste, her verdict is that she likes hot chocolate enough it makes her smile, but that it's still got nothing on Dauntless cake. Also, she will have to let it cool a little more.]
Nobody except for my family calls me that anymore, though.
[The thought of her parents and her brother twists her stomach. Long gone memories of dinner tables and quiet evenings. There goes that smile.]
Buying people drinks isn't much of a discouragement, you know?
no subject
[There's a snort of laughter at the smile she manages after she takes a drink. Typical chick, anything chocolate and she's on cloud 9. He appreciates a good hot chocolate every now and then but not as much as he likes pie. And coffee. They were the cornerstones of his non-alcoholic diet.]
Might not discourage it but it got you down so I'm gonna consider it a win.
no subject
Imagine that.
Tris smirks at him across the table.]
For now. So what do you do when you're not making people climb down from rooftops?
no subject
[Applying for the gig teaching weapons to the rest of the travelers here in Asgard was a bold move but one that he didn't regret doing. He'd found a steady balance with both of his jobs and now he didn't have to worry about money or buying the occasional stranger a drink.]
What about you? You found work yet?
no subject
No. Not sure what I can even do for work here.
["Looking" only got so far when there was no asking involved, after all. She still wasn't comfortable just talking to random strangers about work, or even with how differently things were done here in comparison to back in her city. She'd have had her work cut out for her, there.]
no subject
[Lord knows when he was her age he spent a lot of his time trying to sneak in, but this was a different place, and she was a different person. She probably didn't have the same upbringing. Even if she looked like she could hold her own in a jam.]
Maybe just go to school until you can find something?
no subject
School?
[She was done with that months ago, why would she go back? Come to think of it though, maybe that was just another thing that was different in this place.]
How long do people go to school around here?
no subject
Usually? 12 years. Not counting college. You can drop out and get a GED but I'm not sure that applies to Asgard. It's not your typical school. It teaches subjects that aren't really on the roster in real-time.
no subject
Like what?
no subject
[That was for damn sure. If a school like this had existed where Dean was growing up he might not have dropped out when he did and teamed up with his dad to take down monsters. He might have gone through a whole term. It just didn't work out that way. Most places like those had fees and no places were like the one here. Not back home.]
no subject
I want to move out of the welcome hall though. That's why I went looking in the first place. I don't think going to school is going to give me money for a place to stay.
[Not even if they split the rent.]
no subject
[Dean had been in his own god house for a while and never had any problems. He was able to keep to himself and have some privacy when he wanted it and even got to meet a few people who were now friends.]
no subject
[There isn't - even if the friends she's made from her own house don't live there anymore for the most part. Tris may be hiding behind her cup for a moment to give herself an excuse for a pause.]
It's more that my boyfriend's here too and we'd like to not live in different districts.
no subject
[I mean, really. She didn't look much older than thirteen but maybe she had a baby face. Dean wasn't sure. Kids these days hit puberty a lot faster than they used to but he's sure his dad and Bobby had similar feelings.]
no subject
I'm sixteen.
no subject
[Dean knows better than to tell a teenager that they look younger than they are or that they're still kids. So instead he plays along.]
If you don't mind bars we need a bus boy. You can pick up after patrons and spend time with me behind the counter and in the kitchen.
no subject
Sure, why not.
[And on second thought-]
Think I can still go to school next to that?
no subject
We'll work something out.
no subject
[She smiles. This... this could be good, right? It seems like she had a lot left to learn around here, anyway.]
Is that what you do back home, too? Teach people?
[In a way, he did make her think of the Dauntless. Less ink from what she could see, but that didn't say much.]
no subject
[Back home he was more of a lone ranger, at least with the exception of Sam being his partner in crime and Cas occasionally playing his copilot. What he did back home was very different.]
This is something new I'm trying. I figure it can't hurt to make sure people here are prepared for the worst.
no subject
["Preparation eradicates cowardice, which we define as failure to act in the midst of fear-" she just about has the lesson memorized, even if it seems like she heard it a lifetime ago.]
But it's not like the whole city is full of fighters, is it?
no subject
[Everyone he'd met had a knack for fighting or something that made their trip here worthwhile. The gods weren't messing around.]
no subject
[Not that she wasn't expecting this, but it's different to hear as much from another Traveller.]
no subject
[Kids like Jamie and Jesse who had their whole lives ahead of them and didn't need to be bothered with the crap that was at play here.]
