[closed] 'sassin bondin' times
Who: Asgard Brotherhood
What: rooftop dinnertimes
When: afternoon/evening 505 (after all 'sassins have voted on Satan)
Where: Needle roof!
Rating: PG-13
[ After speaking to the gods, Desmond headed back to the Needle for a beer, which he took up to the rooftop. It's a mild day in Asgard, overcast but not raining. He's leaning against the chimney when Connor finds him -- the novice was swinging by to speak to the masters, not wanting to have this conversation over the bracelets -- but Desmond offers him a beer and he puts more serious matters on hold to sit beside his comrade.
Maybe the others had the same idea to swing by the bureau, or just heard them from the shop downstairs, or maybe a couple beers in one of these boys sent you a message to come by. Point is, eventually there's a whole bunch of 'sassins up on the roof of Needle in a Haystack, and it's dinnertime. Let's family bbq. ]
(( you can thread finding them/being invited or hanging out at dinner or both, it's a free for all! ))

[He says it simply, and it's true. He's had a lot of time to think about it, a lot of time to accept being forgiven.]
But that doesn't change the fact that it happened, and that now it may have happened again.

[ He taps a finger on the neck of his bottle, considering how to phrase it. ]
Forgetting the whole fact that he's Satan, the behavior doesn't match and she's not in the network. I saw the gods saying it was like something wrapped around him,not deep inside. If Thiazi found such a subtle way to control someone for such a long time, there'd be more, and there aren't. Besides, she mentioned a traitor herself awhile back. She would have bragged if she got back in.
[ Another drink, and his voice is softer when he continues. ] But either way, him saying he was corrupted is a reminder of something horrible. It's natural to get upset remembering, and be scared it could be happening again.

There's no Satan or anything like him where I'm from, so that explanation seems a little to easy for me anyway. Everything else though...
[He sighs.]
It makes sense, and I understand, but you're right, it's easy to remember and hard to forget.

At least you were completely taken over, though. Some of us just needed a nudge... That's not something you ever forgive yourself for.
[ shit, breaking the brooding rule. nooooooo. ]

I had a moment like that, too. But that was before... [He sighs.] ...before I went back home only to see it destroyed.
Not a very pleasant subject at a party, I'm sorry. Maybe we should save this for another time.

Kind of, yes. Though there's a lot of good, too.
no subject
Definitely lots of good.
This feels like a hug moment. Speak now if you think that's weird.
no subject
Does it? Well I suppose I can't really argue with that.

[ He sets his bottle down and drapes an arm over Alastair's shoulders, tugging him in for a hug. Sometimes you just need a hug, okay? ]
no subject
[Alastair lets himself be pulled in, wrapping his arms around Connor.
Yeah. Sometimes you just need a hug.]

We'll just keep our heads in the present.

I'll do my best, but I'm afraid I can't offer any promises.

[ He matches the strength of Alastair's grip, then pulls back to look at him, smile wider. ] I don't know if I ever really thanked you, you know?
no subject
Thanked me for what?

I see.
[He's not entirely sure what to do in this case. Offer reassurance? Offer an anecdote about how unwilling to trust anyone he was for so long, even while a part of the Brotherhood? Instead, after a moment of considering silence, he merely says softly, with a smile--]
You're welcome.

It's one big stabby family.

Sure is.
