[closed] 'sassin bondin' times
Who: Asgard Brotherhood
What: rooftop dinnertimes
When: afternoon/evening 505 (after all 'sassins have voted on Satan)
Where: Needle roof!
Rating: PG-13
[ After speaking to the gods, Desmond headed back to the Needle for a beer, which he took up to the rooftop. It's a mild day in Asgard, overcast but not raining. He's leaning against the chimney when Connor finds him -- the novice was swinging by to speak to the masters, not wanting to have this conversation over the bracelets -- but Desmond offers him a beer and he puts more serious matters on hold to sit beside his comrade.
Maybe the others had the same idea to swing by the bureau, or just heard them from the shop downstairs, or maybe a couple beers in one of these boys sent you a message to come by. Point is, eventually there's a whole bunch of 'sassins up on the roof of Needle in a Haystack, and it's dinnertime. Let's family bbq. ]
(( you can thread finding them/being invited or hanging out at dinner or both, it's a free for all! ))

It's not loud, out of deference to the neighbors and current state of affairs, but there are still smiles and laughs to be shared.
Desmond can be found:
A:
Grilling, because this is a barbecue, dammit. "Hold that plate for me, I think this is ready."
B:
Putting another beer in someone's hand. "Time for a refill!"
or C:
Chilling at the roof's edge, watching the sunset over Asgard in fiery streaks of scudding clouds. He's full, settled and happy for company. Join him?
Aish!
How can you tell when it's done?
woot
It's something you just know after a while. How many minutes per side, what the meat should look like. And-- [ He presses down on a hamburger patty lightly, ] --the juice isn't red anymore. Here.
[ He starts taking items off the grill, stacking them on the plate. ] Want to try cooking the next batch?

[ Desmond stands at Alastair's side, quiet a moment, and then he tilts his head at his friend. ]
Penny for your thoughts? Or I guess rune for your thoughts, here. You know I never quite got that, the whole "runes as currency" and "runes as a magic system" deal.

"You cook well, perhaps there is a career in it for you in the future." he smiles, reaching to pat him on the shoulder.

"Maybe, maybe. I bartended for many years, I suppose if the whole Assassin gig doesn't work out I can retire and open a restaurant." He watches Gio a minute, adding, "How are you doing?"

A
Maria's making her way over with a platter of uncooked burgers, ready to replenish the supply on the grill. She seems amused, even as she juggles the platters to take the cooked burgers from her grandson.
"There are more here anyway."

He starts loading the grill up with uncooked meat while he rattles on, until Maria's other plate is empty.

He's never barbecued before, but he's capable of his own cooking, and may even take a turn manning the grill. The rest of the time, he's either joining in conversation, sipping the family-made beer or just leaning back and taking things in.
Even if war, they should appreciate the good moments.]

It's weird, not just to feel like he has a family here, but that it would feel that way when really it's more like he's been let into someone else's. He doesn't even know all of them, so this is a good opportunity. Still, it's inevitable he winds up at Altair's side, a plate of what's just come off the grill in one hand and two drinks in the other; one for him and one to replace Altair's near-empty bottle. ]

Thank you. Planning ahead, I see.

It's been some time since he's shared a roof with quite so many of the Order and if he occasionally simply hangs back to watch them all with a fond expression it isn't for long. As the evening wears on he's pretty easy to get to tell a story or two about certain sons and other exploits and mishaps of his own.

...now he just needs to work up the nerve to go introduce himself, since the man is the oldest in the crowd besides Ezio (which is still very strange) and might be a master if he's lived that long. Then again, Connor doesn't see a blade on him. Maybe he's one of the 'friends'?
Curiosity piqued, he finishes off what's left on his plate and heads over to the (no-one-here's-really-a-)stranger. When he gets close enough and catches the man's eye he lifts a hand with the finger bent in greeting, just as Ezio taught him. ]

[ Connor comes up beside Alastair and gazes out at the dusk-shaded city with him... And suddenly it feels too much like home. He takes a drink. ]
And don't try to deny it, I'm from an extremely melancholy bloodline, I could brood circles around you any day.

Why? Well, she was pretty fucking short, okay. She needed the height advantage in this field of giant muscle men.
"Alright! So lots of shit has gone down and it fucking sucks. I think it's time for some laughs. Who wants to hear some jokes or terrible pick up lines?"
Seriously, this whole atmosphere needed a pick-me-up. It was waaaaay too calm and waaaaaaay too depressing for something that should be a party. Therefore, it was her duty to take it upon herself to make people get over the boo-hoos.

Probably.
"Do enlighten us." He smiled over the top of his latest beer.

she's recovered from stark going home, at the very least, though she's got enough on her plate to worry about with bucky and steve running around. not to mention the war.. the gods..

[This coming from a man who just woke up from a coma a few days ago. Ezio gently sits himself beside her, giving room but not too much so that she feels alienated. He's quiet with her for a long while, stares out to the horizon and offers a presence rather than words. Sometimes that just works better than trying to find the words to say in the first place.]
