[closed] 'sassin bondin' times
Who: Asgard Brotherhood
What: rooftop dinnertimes
When: afternoon/evening 505 (after all 'sassins have voted on Satan)
Where: Needle roof!
Rating: PG-13
[ After speaking to the gods, Desmond headed back to the Needle for a beer, which he took up to the rooftop. It's a mild day in Asgard, overcast but not raining. He's leaning against the chimney when Connor finds him -- the novice was swinging by to speak to the masters, not wanting to have this conversation over the bracelets -- but Desmond offers him a beer and he puts more serious matters on hold to sit beside his comrade.
Maybe the others had the same idea to swing by the bureau, or just heard them from the shop downstairs, or maybe a couple beers in one of these boys sent you a message to come by. Point is, eventually there's a whole bunch of 'sassins up on the roof of Needle in a Haystack, and it's dinnertime. Let's family bbq. ]
(( you can thread finding them/being invited or hanging out at dinner or both, it's a free for all! ))

...
This really isn't the right context, huh? Sounds like you're saying I can burn the place down.

[ ...oh no. It's fractions of a second before his expression falls. He takes a long drink and says, ] Don't answer that.

It does condone learning in all forms—including cooking, I suppose.

...I really miss him. This would have been great for him, you know.
[ At least he doesn't sound too sad. Just thoughtful, a quiet sort of acceptance that can never be happy, but isn't the personal grief it used to be. ]

[Pyro had been the exact sort of person the Creed could do some good for, the same way re-learning its meaning had been good for Altaïr after Solomon's Temple—and yet, not the same.]
But he was not ready.
no subject
I know. I'm glad you saw it, too, though.

[He wishes he had been able to do more.]
Whatever happens in his world, I hope that he is better for the time spent here. Whether or not he remembers it.

[ The involuntary glance towards Alastair is more obvious than he realizes. ]
no subject
[He notices, but doesn't comment. No one wanted Alastair to go back...to that.]
It isn't an easy life—not as Assassins, and not as Travelers of Asgard. But we have today, and do what we can to make it count.

[ He prooooobably wouldn't be hinting so obviously if he hadn't had a few drinks, but he won't regret it later either way. ]
no subject
Oh?

Yea high, quiet, way too much hair, even better with shadows than I am?
[ It's an unnecessary description; he could just say her name, since between training and the trip to Muspellheim Altair knows they're together. If he ever inquired, the knowledge that they live together isn't a secret either. ]

Connor, despite my own example, you do not need to initiate someone simply because you're romantically involved.

[It's more than a side activity. But he's willing to listen.]

She's the strongest person I've ever known. We can all fight, sure, but she can survive... she keeps going to do what needs to be done, no matter how much it hurts her. And she's always done it alone. I'm not sure how to explain how much it matters to people like us to have somewhere you belong and someone who believes in you. Or how much she's grown since we met.

[He doesn't appear to have a strong reaction one way or the other, neither dismissive nor immediately accepting. Connor has hardly been among them long enough to extend a hand of welcome to someone else, at least by the standards Altaïr is accustomed to, but many things are different in Asgard, and they have all changed in their time here.]
And what of the sacrifices we may be called upon to make as Assassins? Do you believe her capable of that?
no subject
I know she is. Everything involves sacrifice, Altair... this isn't easy, but people like us gain so much more than what we give up for it.
no subject
I will consider it.

He seems surprised at first, like part of him was expecting to be dismissed outright or scolded for even the suggestion. Then he smiles. ]
That's all I'd ask for.

Until then, another ale?
