[closed] 'sassin bondin' times

Who: Asgard Brotherhood
What: rooftop dinnertimes
When: afternoon/evening 505 (after all 'sassins have voted on Satan)
Where: Needle roof!
Rating: PG-13

[ After speaking to the gods, Desmond headed back to the Needle for a beer, which he took up to the rooftop. It's a mild day in Asgard, overcast but not raining. He's leaning against the chimney when Connor finds him -- the novice was swinging by to speak to the masters, not wanting to have this conversation over the bracelets -- but Desmond offers him a beer and he puts more serious matters on hold to sit beside his comrade.

Maybe the others had the same idea to swing by the bureau, or just heard them from the shop downstairs, or maybe a couple beers in one of these boys sent you a message to come by. Point is, eventually there's a whole bunch of 'sassins up on the roof of Needle in a Haystack, and it's dinnertime. Let's family bbq. ]

(( you can thread finding them/being invited or hanging out at dinner or both, it's a free for all! ))

Then perhaps we ought to strive to bridge the cultural gap.

[Maybe it's the beer, maybe it's knowing that they're amongst friends, but she leans in and presses a kiss to the corner of his mouth.]

I still want to hear what she tried to teach you.

[He smiles against the kiss but doesn't escalate it in turn. A different time and place, indeed.]

Wordplay, mostly. Clever enough in its way, but not the first method I'd turn to.

[He has better ways of using his mouth.]

I remember that it was I who took the initiative to kiss you first, you merely made a nuisance of yourself and put your mouth in the way.

[She squeezes his fingers again.]

To think that was almost three years ago now.

[And what a good idea that was.]

Less than that for me, remember? I expect my memories are much fresher.

Ah yes, unspoilt by the demands of sleepless nights and the romance of cleaning up after our boy in the small hours of the night.

[Where once there might have been bitterness hidden beneath such a remark, now it is simply an observation.]

I still remember it as though it was yesterday, and I will when I am an old matron, whether it be three years in passing or ten times that.

[It's a relief to have that point of tension gone. At least now they can yearn for their son together.]

If you do not, I promise to remind you.

That, or we might have to go camping together again.

[She brushes her fingers over his.]

So you will not demonstrate this wordplay? Is it too risque for polite company?

[He wouldn't mind that, as long as there are no nosy eavesdroppers or spectral geese.]

Not quite. More like too childish. I believe she learned most of it rom a book of amusements.

Fancy learning how to court a person from a book. How strange the future is.

[She appears thoughtful for a moment.]

Though no stranger than attempting to charm a woman by citing philosophers, I expect.

[He just raises an eyebrow.]

It worked.

I do not recall throwing myself at you the moment you mentioned Empedocles, dear.

[She pats his knee jovially.]

I love you with everything I am but I do confess it was not your knowledge of Greek philosophers that won you my heart, habeebi.

More's the pity.

[As if she would have even considered such a thing then. Though they both know he would have welcomed it if she had.]

What did the trick then, my love?

[personal profile] womanfromacre 2014-09-27 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, not killing me when we met was a pretty good way to make a first impression, and allowed you to make others after all.

[She lifts his hand and presses her lips to his palm.]

I cannot say what it was. Perhaps it was everything and nothing in particular, you crept up on me before I even knew it was happening.

In more ways than one, I expect.

[Hey, he's still glad he didn't start a huge fight creeping into Acre Castle before that second meeting. Everything would have been different.]

I hope to continue making more for many years to come.

As long as you're the first thing I see when I wake each day, you always shall.

[He has done remarkably well so far managing such a feat. Not bad for an infidel whose head she had sworn she would take.]

Then it will be forever, Maryam.
