[closed] 'sassin bondin' times
Who: Asgard Brotherhood
What: rooftop dinnertimes
When: afternoon/evening 505 (after all 'sassins have voted on Satan)
Where: Needle roof!
Rating: PG-13
[ After speaking to the gods, Desmond headed back to the Needle for a beer, which he took up to the rooftop. It's a mild day in Asgard, overcast but not raining. He's leaning against the chimney when Connor finds him -- the novice was swinging by to speak to the masters, not wanting to have this conversation over the bracelets -- but Desmond offers him a beer and he puts more serious matters on hold to sit beside his comrade.
Maybe the others had the same idea to swing by the bureau, or just heard them from the shop downstairs, or maybe a couple beers in one of these boys sent you a message to come by. Point is, eventually there's a whole bunch of 'sassins up on the roof of Needle in a Haystack, and it's dinnertime. Let's family bbq. ]
(( you can thread finding them/being invited or hanging out at dinner or both, it's a free for all! ))

[ Desmond stands at Alastair's side, quiet a moment, and then he tilts his head at his friend. ]
Penny for your thoughts? Or I guess rune for your thoughts, here. You know I never quite got that, the whole "runes as currency" and "runes as a magic system" deal.

Interesting.
[He scratches his head with his free hand and sighs.]
I would've thought my thoughts were obvious. Especially to you.

Maybe. Maybe I didn't want to assume. My thoughts haven't changed on that. You're one of my best friends here, Alastair.

Thank you. I feel the same way.
[He's quiet a moment, looking out at the city.]
I'm not holding onto it, it's not that. From my perspective, I've had several years between all that and now. But with the possibility of corruption being the cause here... [He shrugs.] It's hard not to remember.

[ But it's not that easy when it's Satan and yes okay stories are just stories but stories come from somewhere and surprise, surprise, Juno turned out to be as vindictive as the bulk of her mythology, so... ]
Things will work out. I know it's vogue for everyone to hate on our fellow travelers, except for maybe the natives, but I have a lot of faith in everyone.

I know.
[He's quiet for a moment, considering Desmond, considering all the things they've both been through, and he lifts his arm and puts it across Desmond's shoulders, his hand resting at the base of Desmond's neck and brushing the skin with his thumb.]
You're a good man.

I'm just trying to do my best.
no subject
And you do it pretty well.
[He tips his head to the side, considering.]
You know. Most of the time.

[ Al gets a nudge, and then Desmond tips his head back, draining the rest of his beer. ]

Does it? What an interesting hypothesis. And what kind of a voice was that?
